Nothing like a little snow to be an excuse to suspend rights.

I've never really seen snow but I've been flooded in for days at a time during cyclones and I tell you what - we were all glad of a fridge full of beer. Poor Carolinans - having to be sober with cabin fever. Weird to declare a state of emergency though. Actually weird what a state of emergency there involves. Over here usually means the army goes native and pitches in sandbagging things with the locals. Not that you'd actually be able to drive anywhere during a cyclone - instant Darwin award right there.

I don't know, I find this more sickening.
A broken link is more sickening?
Hah. I am too lazy to search for a different article but it was basically saying that some Indian reservations have been without power for a couple of weeks due to an ice storm.

Yeah we just call that the National Guard, not a state of emergency.

I think you legally have to call a SoE to put the National Guard to use. I've never heard of them suspending alcohol sales though. Seems like some xian in charge has a hardon for power.
