TheBluegrassSkeptic
Sooo, we have had a thread with stupid things family members have said on Facebook about their beliefs, along with ridiculous icons they use. Here is another example. It would seem this thread will never get old, but it has gotten so long, thought we would continue it... This is what happend to me today... ***Update*** Wow, so I stopped with the Love you cuz. Didn't really jump into a debate. I let her have her reasons (God has given me and many others a lot we needed, etc). She has a friend jump in and start spouting the nonsense you see in the next attachment. I am proud of myself though. I didn't engage at all. These individuals are part of Reformer's Unanimous. I think I need say no more on that...... Picking my battles.... ConureDelSol
Wow that second part made me want to barf. Grace is God giving us what we don't deserve; mercy is God withholding what we do deserve. So did this.
Zephie
Wow that second part made me want to barf. Grace is God giving us what we don't deserve; mercy is God withholding what we do deserve. So did this. Wouldn't that quote imply that noone is going to hell? I mean if God is "sooo merciful" and xtians consider us deserving of hell then...the fuck?
ConureDelSol
Something tells me this chick on FB is one of the "Nobody goes to Hell" types. Some of the stuff she posts make her sound that way.
Zephie
If she is then I hope she brings some books to read in heaven. It's always sounded like a boring place. As much as I love singing, I do not want to spend eternity singing about jeebus or sky-god.
TheBluegrassSkeptic
I have often countered that to have a holy afterlife is to not actually continue on as we are. We will not retain the same conciousness we have now otherwise how would such a being get us to be so starstruck with him for eternity? I relate it to something akin to the Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
Zephie
That's really sad and would make...why the hell would they go on about free will only to give it up. I don't know how I ever made sense as an Xtian. Thankgoodness I never really witnessed to someone.
owen652
grace... I always heard the phrase, lifted straight from the Bible, 'grace through faith', which is the most self-contradictory statement ever, yet no-one seems to see it. grace means underserved favour, i.e. salvation which is not based on works; in fact we are often told that nothing we can do can earn our salvation. yet faith is an action. so we get grace, which by definiton requires no action, by doing an action. JadedAtheist
just had to share another of my muslim classmate's heartwarming status updates I am thinking of deleting my facebook account, all this negativity is not doing me any good Muslims piss me off more than Christians. Especially the non Arab ones as they try to constantly throw out Arabic phrases of which they do not understand. I almost died working with some Muslim guys back in high school. Almost every word was inshallah, Mashallah, yallah, habib, haram or of course salaam alaikum and alaikum asalaam.
