This movie is on Netflix and has some great examples of how christianity really modeled themselves after the pagan religions. It also demonstrates how astrology comes to play in the bible [that portion is mind blowing]. Anyone suspicious of christianity not being 100% original should watch this.

The opening scene is 5 minutes of war footage followed by George Carlins rant on religion. Its worth the wait. The portion of religion in this movie is just mind blowing

Yep. It deals with something called the "Christ Myth theory" which basically says the Jesus story was made up based on star patterns. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but the movie is well worth viewing.

It's divided into three parts: the first is on religion, the second is about a Wall Street conspiracy and the third talks about the Jewish link to 9/11 if I recall. I haven't seen the last two but if you're going to watch Zeitgeist I think that's worth knowing.

God is the immemorial refuge of the incompetent, the helpless, the miserable. They find not only sanctuary in His arms, but also a kind of superiority, soothing to their macerated egos: He will set them above their betters.

The religion part I found interesting.

The part of how banks work was actually my undergrad Money and Banking class in economics.

When he started to talk about 9/11.....well I have heard to many conspiracy theories to give it much credence. I do think there was more to it than the government report, but the whole 9/11 was just a heist job for the gold under wall street was the plot to die hard 3.

I think Jesus was a myth, but not for the reasons in Zeitgeist.

Zeitgeist is interesting but there they are VERY loose with the facts and just make a bunch of stuff up on the fly:

Here is a pretty good skeptical review of the film: http://conspiracies....cles/zeitgeist/

Im not saying its true but this movie had me actually looking for sources. I know its not a 100% right.. but it sure as hell isn't 100% wrong either. I have read the bible cover to cover 5 times... and some of the stuff they said instantly rang the bell. The Joseph and Jesus parallel.. the winter solstice resurrection parallel... the 12 diciplipes.. the fish symbology.. the bull symbology.. the age information.. Im just saying, its worth watching.

Absolutely. It's just when I found out that many of the comparisons...12 disciples, born of a virgin, etc...were fabricated or at the very least really stretched, it took away a lot if the impact for me.
