I must have slept through the original Dark Shadows, but I thought the movie was good.  Hard to imagine Johnny Depp making a bad movie.

Christianity: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

I still have a Dark Shadows book from the 60s. I'm a bit young for either the DS show or TS:TOS, but I didn't like either of them much. I grew to like TS:TOS eventually but Dark Shadows has just never managed to grab me.

JJ Abrams Grants Fan’s Dying Wish To See Star Trek Into Darkness

Director JJ Abrams has granted a fan’s dying wish to see Star Trek Into Darkness before he makes the final voyage into the undiscovered country.

On Christmas day Reddit user ideeeyut, aka Grady Hendrix, posted a plea on behalf of his friend Dan, 41, who is suffering from two kinds of cancer. Dan desperately wanted to see Star Trek Into Darkness, and, knowing that he has “weeks to live,” bought a ticket to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey just to catch the 10 minutes of Trek footage that was being shown alongside the Jackson film, but was hospitalized on the day of the screening, and so missed his chance.

The story swiftly reached Abrams and Paramount , resulting in a private screening of a rough cut of Into Darkness for Dan and his wife, which happened on Sunday.

Paramount and Bad Robot – to their credit – haven’t made a big thing about the screening, but Dan’s wife sent the following message to TrekMovie.com (click on the link for the full message):

“Hi everyone, it’s Daniel’s wife. We are of course sworn to secrecy, but we are officially allowed to say we saw it and we enjoyed it immensely as a film and as a gesture… However; Daniel ‘hates’ being an ‘inspiring cancer story’ we his friends and loved ones would prefer for the update to have more of a heartfelt message of giving, especially during this season

“This is a story of us giving something to him, the ‘internet’ community giving something to him and ultimately being a heartwarming gift to our friends, family and so many others. This story of us (and of course JJ Abrams & Bad Robot) being able to give this surprise gift of a screening to a huge movie buff like Daniel, especially a film made by a film maker who obviously makes movies with such care, with a fan like Daniel in mind (and a person like me who knows slightly less about these things). Also, it was truly amazing that a film-maker so secretive as JJ Abrams was kind enough to show this to us.

“It is also so wonderful for his friends & his family to finally hear some good news from us, They know how important film is to Daniel & could not think of a better way to please to him. So this gesture really has brought a lot of smiles all around.

“Be assured we enjoyed it 110%! We are so grateful thank you, thank you, thank you…”

Now that’s what we call a heartwarming Christmas story.
