But I have forgiven my parents, they must have thought anything with a xian message was inherently ok, having been indoctrinated themselves. I decided to take it with me and throw it away, lest a weak-minded fool's life be ruined by the material's claim of fulfilled Bible prophecy. It was a very anti-catholic tract and even though I was an ex-christian/ex-catholic (of the extremely liberal persuasion) by the time I saw the tract, the lies in it still made me furious. Actually, the tracts still make me angry because I know they're being given to vulnerable and/or gullible people who might take them seriously. I used to go with the church youth group and leave them EVERYWHERE. There were even a few brave kids who toured a downtown Catholic cathedral and left them in the pews. This was with a youth pastor who even bragged about leaving cigarettes in the fingers of the statues of the Catholic churches..LOL. Don't mean to be offensive to any former Catholics but in a way, it was funny has hell. With our youth group we would always go downtown where the "cruisers" would hang out on the weekend. For those not familiar, "cruising" is when young people drive their cars to random parking lots and just hang out (in North Carolina it's the only activity that's more fun than "cow-tipping"). We'd litter the cars with chick tracts and try to strike up conversations with the other young people who were just hanging out. I only ever remember one person coming to youth group as a result of this type of evangelism, and that kid's parents and sister were already active Christians, so he might have ended up in youth group anyway. In fact, in 8th grade, my friends and I did that after school, still wearing our catholic school uniforms...lololol Never got caught either. I have watched the movie MANY TIMES I laugh my ass off every time I see it. You would probably appreciate the movie "Heaven Help Us". It came out in 1985. On a serious note, they also do a good job of showing the Christian victim mentality. Then I remember that people are still passing these off to impressionable kids. Kids who were raised in Christian society and are already susceptible to being scared shitless. At that point I got angry and sad at the same time. I'm going through the chick tracts on their website now, and if I had to pick out the most absurd one (the 11.5 out of the 11s), it would be the "death cookie" dig against catholics and their wafers. People would leave them on bus stops, post offices, etc. I've got about 30 of them, collected over the years. They are a good introduction to American Christianity. Give your mind over to fundamentalists, or burn in hell. Great, uplifting message. I prefer the comic book size Crusaders series, in full color, with art by Fred Carter.
