Musings On Life And Death

Death

What is it to die?
We're walking on a plane that eventually ends.
Falling off the edge is inevitability
Yet the plane rests on open space
It holds itself up, with no one to analyze its content

How strange it is
That we may live

We want life to be forever
Our minds accept the eternality of consciousness
But do our minds accept an illusion?
Everyone dies except me
I am forever

But I once wasn't, wasn't I?
Then nothing else was before me

That is the story I want to hear

Yet I do myself no good
Pondering on trivialities
Nature will go on with or without me.

I see its immense cruelty.
Its sadistic spin
Why make such beauty only to swallow it whole?
Yet I wonder if I don't fully understand
Perhaps this is how its supposed to be

Things can't last forever
I am a piece in a puzzle
The puzzle is beauty
Even if I can't see beyond these jigsaw edges

If only i recognize
The pedals fall, but before they fall they open
And life springs forth
I'm alive

Though pedals will fall
I'm alive

Love it! Especially the line 'everyone dies except me'.

Awesome, nice work.

I went to a park today and noticed the sun shining on the last of the autumn leaves (southern hemisphere).  It was so beautiful and made me think about the changing seasons, how life starts, flourishes, and ends all within the space of a year.  I am glad I have more than one year to go through my cycle.  And glad I have consciousness.
