Goodbye Jesus

What Really Happened To Jesus!

When you were a Christian you thought that you were saved because of Jesus, when actually Jesus himself was in hell being boiled in a vat of excrement.  He didn't save anyone.  At least that's what some rabbis used to say apparently...

I first came across this idea in a Hitchens book.  Sometimes I think his facts can be a bit off, but it seems he was on the right track here.  I did some digging...

See Jewish Encyclopedia article, scroll down past "--In Jewish Legend" to "The Resurrection" section.

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/8616-jesus-of-nazareth

Specifically referenced is Talmud, Git. 56b-57a:

http://www.halakhah.com/gittin/gittin_57.html, “Whoever mocks at the words of the Sages is punished with boiling hot excrement.”

It goes to show you that anyone can put anyone into a mythical place of torment after they're dead...

I found (and still find) it a "bit off" how quickly He died on the cross . Usually victims took a few days to die, Jesus seemed to expire so quickly even Pilate was surprised. When you factor in, He was God made flesh, its even odder

Aggie,

Interesting Links, in particular  the infamous question referencing  The cry of Christ, asking why God had forsaken Him. It  is very puzzling. If Christ was in fact god, He was forsaking Himself and His cry was akin to mockery to His human listens. If He wasn't God (and that cry is highly suggestive He wasn't) Then why worship Him........

Castiel,

Yep, there are a lot of things that are puzzling about Christianity.  Part of what's puzzling is that we didn't find them more puzzling when we were Christians...  This God who prays to Himself, sacrifices Himself to appease Himself, intentionally orchestrates events to anger Himself (curses first man and all his descendants so that they will be unable to obey Him and will therefore make Him angry), "conquers death and sin" in such a way that most made in His image are eternally subject to the effect of death and sin...

Very well put : )

Castiel233,

This is fascinating: "If Christ was in fact god, He was forsaking Himself and His cry was akin to mockery to His human listens." Do you mean he was in essence mocking humanity? Would you please elaborate further? And quote me so I see it in my notifications. Thanks!

Human

The idea that God (the Son) was pleading  to God( the Father) makes sense if:

They are the same being (I and my Father are one) and are basically taking the mick.

Christ was not God and therefore the phrase "I and my Father are one" is a lie.

God Praying to Himself, to excuse Himself, from the ordeal He had to force Himself to go through is one of the many strange moral mathematics that makes no sense.

I'd say mocking humanity rather than laughing at, because a book of chuckles the Bible certainly is not.

during my fantasy days, jesus went to hell after cruxification,,,, and since he was sinless, the hell could not hold him and freed all other hell-bound prisoners who believed in him,,,,,,

by the way, who actually send him to hell?

god judged him to hell, so go judged himself to hell, sent himself to hell, found out that 'oops i'm sinless' so reverses his decision to send himself to hell, then took all the other hell-bound prisoners who believed in him, even though he was the one who sent them to hell too.

I find it intriguing that you capitalize pronouns referencing the christian god. Is that force of habit?

He had to have sent himself because judgment is at the end of days.  So none of this really makes much sense that anyone was anywhere that required judgment.  Some sort of limbo really is the best choice until judgment (and I'm not Catholic).

Anyhow, he went somewhere via magic and did magical things.  That makes perfect sense.  Then more magic happened and will happen again but not right now.  Not where you're looking.  Classic misdirection.
