Brother Jeff Posted August 19, 2014 Share Posted August 19, 2014 Just sent this message to the Brazosport Facts newspaper in Brazoria County, Texas after not hearing from them for days after submitting a very important letter to the editor. Just posted this to Facebook, so pardon some repetition... Just sent this message to the Brazosport Facts in Brazoria County, Texas, expressing my disappointment and displeasure at having such a vitally important topic as severe depression -- which causes unimaginable suffering and sometimes lives -- totally ignored by them. A few days ago, I submitted a lengthy, but very important article on depression and mental illness and my personal struggles with it over many years. Such an incredibly important topic, and to say that I am disappointed not to hear back from you at all about such a vitally important topic critical to so many suffering people, some of whom tragically lose their battle with depression as Robin Williams just did, would be stating the case mildly. I am aware that what I submitted was intense and emotional and perhaps very uncomfortable to print. But so incredibly important... I thought you should see this Facebook post that expresses my opinion even more clearly... "Sadly, I have never heard back from the newspapers that I submitted my story of bipolar recovery to after the news of Robin William's death broke. Guess they either don't give a shit about this important subject, or they thought it was too intense to print. But to totally ignore me? I find that totally unacceptable. Shame on The Facts newspaper in Brazoria County, Texas. At least the Alaska Dispatch News (the local Anchorage newspaper) responded after I posted to their Facebook page with a link to submit my story to, and someone on their page appreciated me sharing my story. So that certainly counts! But ignoring such an important subject? That's totally unacceptable and tragic for many suffering people who may not realize that such recovery is available or even possible..." Maybe now I will get some action and a response. But then, who knows? ... You can never tell about some people... It makes me SO incredibly ANGRY when people ignore such a critically important subject!!
