Lesbian Anthems

This topic came out [pun intended! :P] in chat last night.

Gays have a lot of anthems, songs that are culturally associated with their community or that are popular within the drag community. Where are the lesbian songs, the ones that clearly about ladies or written from a lesbian or lady lovin' lady perspective? I'm a music nerd, so I've decided to do some digging.

Today's Results:

An oldie but a goodie, imho:

I'm waiting for someone to cover this song. :D

Pop, indie, alt rock...anything, anyone.

Click "show me" to see some lyrics.

They say I do it, ain’t nobody caught me

Sure got to prove it on me;

Went out last night with a crowd of my friends,

They must’ve been women, ‘cause I don’t like no men.

It’s true I wear a collar and a tie,

Makes the wind blow all the while

Don’t you say I do it, ain’t nobody caught me

You sure got to prove it on me.

Say I do it, ain’t nobody caught me

Sure got to prove it on me.

I went out last night with a crowd of my friends,

It must’ve been women, ‘cause I don’t like no men.

Wear my clothes just like a fan

Talk to the gals just like any old man

Cause they say I do it, ain’t nobody caught me

Sure got to prove it on me.

And this song, because, hey it is sweet. Not really my tastes, though.

She says I smell like safety and home
I named both of her eyes “Forever” and “Please don’t go”
I could be a morning sunrise all the time, all the time yeah
This could be good, this could be good

And I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm, she keeps me warm

What’s your middle name?
Do you hate your job?
Do you fall in love too easily?
What’s your favorite word?
You like kissing girls?
Can I call you baby?

Yeah, yeah

She says that people stare ‘cuz we look so good together
Yeah, yeah, yeah

And I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm, she keeps me warm [x2]

I’m not crying on Sundays, I’m not crying on Sundays [x2]
Love is patient, love is kind [x4]
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm, she keeps me warm

I'm sure I'll think of more or find more later.
