Goodbye Jesus

The Selling Of Jesus

How Jesus is usually sold:

Jesus loves you and if you are a good person and just believe in Him you get to live in Heaven after you die

What Jesus is actually selling:

Jesus came to save the Jews, he spoke in parables so people couldn’t understand His message and then He wouldn’t have to save them. His book has lot and lots of rules (commands actually) He fully expects you to adhere to. These include

            Believing the impossible

            Abandoning your family

            Hating yourself

Giving away all that you own

            Blessing people that curse you

Trusting God instead of going to the doctor

These "add ons" are brought to your attention after they have got you. They wouldn't dare start with them as their sales pitch.

Yep, and the churches who do the marketing suck you in with love and kindness.  Then they bleed you dry --  mind, body, time, and most importantly to them - your wallet!

Minister: "Jesus has a great plan for your life."  Everybody: Yay!!!  Great plans!

What they don't tell you is that his plan involves turning you into a willing masochist, and that his idea of great plans and a good time is everybody elses' idea of a nightmare.

Standard SOP for xians (and many others) to sell a newbie is pretty plain and simple:
