duderonomy
Christians, Abraham had two boys. His firstborn, and his firstborn. Which one did God say would be the child of His promise, his firstborn or his firstborn? Would the mother matter?
sdelsolray
Two mothers, both children born at the same exact time. One mother birthing twins who exiting the womb together, instead of one after the other.

Super Moderator TheRedneckProfessor Posted December 15, 2014 Super Moderator Share Posted December 15, 2014 god kept his promise to both of Abraham's firstborn sons. Ishamael went on to become the father of the Arab race, while Isaac became the father of the Hebrews. That's why they are always at war with one another. At least, that's what they told us in Sunday School.

mymistake
I got the impression that somebody in control of Genesis was interested in advancing a "God blesses the second born son" agenda. We have this incident with Isaac instead of Ismael. Then Israel steals the blessing by fooling his father. Then later on Israel switches his arms when he blesses Joseph's children. This was a big deal because supposedly Joseph's boys each formed one of the twelve tribes. Israel made it a point to but his right hand on the younger boy so the extra blessing would go to the second born. I would have to look it up but my guess was this was driven by politics at the time. Whichever tribe was attributed to Joseph's second born son was the one they were trying to emphasize in the Genesis account.

Now I'm thinking Adam first, Jesus second.
