Goodbye Jesus

Your Favourite Atheist Youtubers!

Avandris

Recommended Posts

So, I've pretty much watched the full catalogue of the Atheist youtubers that I've been recommended and now I'm craving someone new! I also thought it might be a good idea to have a list of good youtubers out there for anyone else that might be interested in that sort of thing (I couldn't find anything on the forums, but I may be blind).

Below is a list of youtubers recommended by myself and fellow ex-Christians for your viewing pleasure. They shall be written up in the following form:

  • Channel Name<and link>*** - Description [FYI] (Activity level)

***** - Asterisks will be used to represent the approx number of members who recommend or vocalise support for a certain channel. The more stars, the better!!

[FYI] - will contain information about the youtuber/channel that may (or may not) be of interest to you (controversy, content warnings, etc)

(Activity level) - will contain the activity of the channel in the follow way: (Actiive) - vid within the last week, (Weekly Activity) - vids tend to come out weekly, (Semi-Active) - vid within the last month & (Inactive) - no activity for a month. I'll do my best to keep this as up-to-date as possible.

NB. The links will take you directly and NOT open in a new tab, right click to get that option.

Awesome thread, Avandris.  Thank you.  Maybe the mods can make it a sticky?

I would add The Atheist Experience to the list.  Weekly live TV call-in show.

I would add prplfox.  I am surprised you have not come across him - in fact I am sure I must have given you the name at some point.  He's a member of these forums too but I don't think he posts any more.

Oh, and I definitely agree with FT about the Atheist Experience.

Updated the list with those two suggestions. Not sure how prplfox didn't make the original list, because I have watched his deconversion videos several times. I'm sure I was subscribed to him. Ah well, he's there now!

Oh, just noticed...

The Amazing Atheist.

Surprised he's not already in the list.  Probably the single biggest Youtube atheist.  Not everything he does is atheist related, but enough ia to justify his name.

You could also add...

JaclynGlenn

Cult of Dusty

This might be one reason not to include him as a favorite: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/TheAmazingAtheist#Reddit_meltdown

Another reason: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/TheAmazingAtheist#Bullying

He's not always to my taste.

He's addressed the issue of his rape comments in an extensive video and I think what he said was satisfactory at the time, though I can't really recall the detail.  i.e. It's somewhat out of context, and he did apologise, and did give a serious statement against rape.

He does seem to be a perpetual target for extreme feminists though, at least by his own account.  I don't frequent reddit or tumblr.

As someone who is always suspicious of people asking for money online, and never give it,  I just say be careful where you send your cash.  I don't follow AA because I think he's a morally scrupulous trustee of funds.  I find his videos entertaining - though admittedly more in the past than now.

Thunderf00t should be on the list but with a very serious warning.

His series "Why Do People Laugh at Creationists" gets a very high recommendation from me.  Unfortunately a lot of his recent stuff has been railing at feminists, in a way that (in my opinion, and the opinions of many others) crosses the line into misogyny.  He is an intelligent man with a lot of good content, but he sadly has some very bad positions and ideas, and those come through in a lot of his videos from the last few years.

I agree without exception to the recommendation of Cristina Rad.

Let me also throw in a very enthusiastic recommendation for philhellenes.  If you want an introduction to his work, check out "Science Saved My Soul".

Thanks Warrior, I'll include a note in my listing of Thunderf00t. I also find some of his positions and ideas unpleasant.

Cheers for the further recommendation as well!

There we are, all updated and cleaned up a bit.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what other info I should include, please second recommendations if you agree with them (So as to give a good rating of the channels) and bring on new ones! Yay!

I'm assuming you mean 43Alley, Farflung? tongue.png

Edit: Also, interestingly he's just uploaded a short video (within the last hour) and it looks like his activity might pick back up again. Yay!
