Penguin
I'm looking for a comprehensive analysis of Christianity, from the history to the doctrine (from our perspective). Verse by verse, point by point if possible. Prophecies, contradictions, errors, etc. Can anyone recommend something (s)?
Moderator TrueFreedom Posted February 13, 2015 Moderator Share Posted February 13, 2015 That's a large data set for one book to cover. A few John Loftus and Bart Ehrman books in addition to the library at infidels.org should provide quite a bit of illumination.
mymistake
There is an online resource that covers contradictions verse by verse but it doesn't do history. http://skepticsannotatedbible.com Skeptic's Annotated Bible. The focus is on how Bronze Age customs are ridiculous to modern society so it doesn't meet academic standards but it is a good place to start. Penguin
Thank you. I figured something that comprehensive would be unlikely, but I'm working on a project that will hopefully be very thorough. Still, I need to get a jump on history, science, critical thinking, etc. I have minimal unbiased experience. Apologetics was an interest of mine as a Christian; I suppose this would be like Free Thinker apologetics.

mymistake
I would also recommend Bart Ehrman's Lost Scriptures. http://www.bartdehrman.com/books/lost_scriptures.htm You get to compare what the Roman church chose to include in the Bible with all the other books available.
