Deathbed Conversion-No, And I Can Prove It

A few years back I was diagnosed with stage four cancer and nearly died, but with the best medical care (Mayo clinic, Rochester, Minn) the doctors pushed it into remission. The doctors told me due to the advanced stage I was in, the treatment needed to be harsh and advised me to get my will and other matters done before starting treatment. As I was getting ready for the IV chemo I was 130 lbs, down from 180 and was asked if I wanted to talk to a chaplain before they started and I simply smiled and told them to just start the IV going. A few days earlier when I was being admitted to the hospital, a nurse helped me with a questionnaire that asked religious affiliation. She read me the choices, catholic, protestant and several others and asked which one she should check, to which I asked "is normal on the list?" She smiled and said no and I told her to write it in. After she scribbled something, I asked to see it and sure enough there I was, "normal"!

The thumpers claim that every knee will bow, but I'm here to say it won't be in this life for me and I can't picture having knee's anyway if there happens to be a consciousness somehow after death. So, in case there are any so called Christians reading this, chew on that.

Very happy that you pulled through, and very grateful for all of the care-givers who provided you the treatment that restored you to health.  I hope that you have many more years of life, and that you make those years count.  I agree that if you didn't yield to unpersuasive fear under the circumstances you have experienced, it is unlikely that any other "you" would do so in any other world.  Your story reminds me of the lines of the poem Invictus:  "In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud.  Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed."  There is a tremendous risk of a deathbed conversion, as it could be that converting to Christianity will damn your soul.  It could be that Christianity itself is the "powerful delusion" sent by Yahweh.  2 Thessalonians 2:10-12.

The desperate conversion of the very ill is a good advertisement for Christianity.  Hence the Christians tend to seize on it.

Congratulations on having the courage to remain independent of mind.

And all the best for your future health.
