Removing Gender From Gender

Stayed home today and watching daytime TV. Seems somewhat apparent that society is promoting for lack of the correct word, a genderless culture. Am soliciting opinions of what the long term result will be on society.

Thanks.

They are just trying to get away from Christian hate.

Certainly not happening in the biomedical sciences. I just had to articulate to my advisor the importance of gender specific differences in drug biotransformation this morning. So important is this concept, we are finally starting to see women inclusion in the early phases of clinical drug development and testing because we are beginning to recognise that differences exist.

Men and women have and have had vastly differing roles in various time periods and societies. Current definitions of what a man or a woman should be and how they should behave are changing, as they always do.

You're presenting a fait accompli, End.

Justify that what you see happening is correct ...and if it is, then solicit for opinions.

If it isn't so, then don't solicit.

Justify first, please.

On a side note, i have been confused as to what defines a gender now a days. I have watched news programs about males who identify themselves as females and are now pushing to have the right to use female bathrooms. To me, people are either male or female, but the whole gender bender of guys with guy parts thinking they are girls and girls with girl parts identifying themselves as guys is utterly baffling to me. I am not judging anyone, nor am i discriminating anyone, to each their own. I just don't get it, is it a dna thing or what?

As per end3's op, i have to agree with florduh, definitions are always changing. As to what will be in the future only time will tell. But it does seem that the powers that be use t.v. to push their own agendas. -peace/cat

I've heard this since the beginning of television, and I was there! I have to disagree. Television programming is about making money and only making money so the only agenda they follow is to try to attract the largest audience. Therefore, America as presented in prime time shows is a reflection, not a directive. Program execs selfishly give the people what they want, not what they want them to have.

Jesus told us what gender should be back when he landed at Plymouth Rock and founded America with Moses.

Now, see, that's funny folks.

Plymouth Rock is Mount Ararat, right?

God made sure we'd know about gender because he put a MALE and a FEMALE of every animal on the ark.

Do you mean, by "current definitions," the acceptability, or the value of such?  Um, that being a stay-at-home mom was almost a confession of incompetence a generation ago, but now recognized as the greatest asset in the child's development.  Women fought for the right to join the workforce as equals, but some now scramble to serve as the most-needed aspect of the childhood development.  Still fighting for recognition.

I don't see any point in bitching about and assigning blame for all the inevitable changes one will see in any reasonably long life. Gender roles change, family definitions change and so on...they always have and always will. Now get off my lawn!

I never did understand the whole gender identification thing. Is there any scientific proof to back it up?

It's kind of who you hang out with. You have millions upon millions of ladies watching this stuff and the next thing you know, they are being essentially bullied into believing that they are wrong for having any other opinion. I just happen to think that figuratively castrating young boys rom the get go will have potential harm. Don't have any facts....just intuitive.

And Florduh, I disagree about the TV thing. I wouldn't put it past people to aim at the children to promote "change".....for money of course. We do agree there.
