She knew just what to do.

That guy talking sounded so scripted. Also, why is he preying on a child like that? Gets me sick seeing that.

She handled that well.

The volume on my computer doesn't work. So i read the comments below and the comments say she didn't do anything but get high fives. Can someone who has a volume control, tell me what she said to back the nutter off? Thank you. -Cat

She didn't say a word.  The preacher was doing all the talking and then he got frustrated when his words

did nothing at all.  The little girl just looked at him like he was talking crazy.  His preaching was the standard

fire and brimstone crap about how Jesus will set ya free.

That guy deserves a swift kick somewhere below the belt. Preach your message at an adult, fuckface and not a kid. I've got no respect for those types of asshats. Especially at pride events.

OTOH, I don't think an event like that is appropriate for a kid. Maybe I'm just a child-free lesbo wench, but I do not like going to protests, rallies and other such events and seeing kids everywhere.

I wish evolution had a self-destruct mechanism for hate and bigotry.

I live in AZ. This preacher or whatever he claims to be, has stirred up trouble for sometime now. A couple years ago this guy refused to give the check points between AZ and CA his licence to prove he is a resident of the US and is here legally. Search for him on Youtube, he took videos of these altercations. This was a big thing and ended up in court because he got his ass kicked by checkpoint guards, and caught it on film.

Yeah, the "preacher" is an idiot.

OTOH, why is there a little girl there holding up a rainbow flag? Is she old enough to get into this or is she being manipulated like she's in some kind of alternate universe Jesus Camp?

Some people believe that one is never too young to be exposed to political demonstration. Me, personally, I wouldn't take my kid to political demonstrations with me but its not my place to judge. Same as peeps taking their kids to church. That's their business. We are all doing what we think is best for our tiny versions of ourselves that we've produced. *shrugs* whatevs

I'm trying to be on the side of the little girl. I would say the same the for little girl if she were in Sunday School learning about human sacrifice, and how it can be a good thing.

Children need to be children, not pawns.

I think on a deeper level you are probably right.  I shared the video because I just thought it was cool the

way the little girl ignored the preacher.  But I would not take my children to a political rally.  And I agree

it is not a healthy place to bring children.

The little girl just stood there with a flag.  She wasn't being threatened.  In fact she was given a lot of high fives and support.  I am glad she ignored the street preacher.  But the ones who have really taken a stand, are here (us, the ex-C-er's), who have been indoctrinated, and who have paid the price socially, emotionally and psychologically, for taking a stand against Christianity.  It is very easy to take a stand for those who have never been indoctrinated and who have the support of others, and who are not facing any serious risks of harm for doing so.  I've taken the risk of disagreeing with a Christian radio program A-mum was playing in the car and she got so mad at me she started screaming and could have lost control of the car.  These are the risks ex-C-ers take every day.  No one's ever given me a high five for what I've done, but that's ok, it's not about recognition, but fighting a quiet battle, the battle to be myself in a Christian system that demands me to be something else.
