Fweethawt
This is interesting. I didn't get a chance to read the entire article yet. Enjoy. http://m.mic.com/articles/124083/where-did-life-come-from-new-science-confirms-theory
♦ Fuego ♦
Couldn't stand the website, annoying popup towards the end masked the article, twitchy graphic right at the beginning, lousy writing: "a constant 1 volt jolt" The idea is old, and still hasn't been replicated in a lab (though they are trying). I found the article on entropy leading to life more fascinating. The concept there is that life spends energy more efficiently, so contributing to entropy, and thus is a natural process that should be found throughout the universe. sdelsolray
Although I haven't read the original research paper (can't seem to find it), in reviewing the JLP press release (where the research was done), nothing indicates a confirmation of any abiogenesis hypothesis. The laboratory replication of low voltage electrical signals based on mechanical vents is new, but scientists have observed this to happen on the sea floor for quite some time. Yes, this experimental confirmation of evidence supports the ocean thermal vent hypothesis of abiogenesis, but it is not some earth shattering addition to abiogenesis research.
