Goodbye Jesus

'my Five Minutes In Hell'

Whilst viewing 'Jesusissaviour.com' (Which is funny as fuck, by the way), I was taken to a youtube video called 'THE REALITY OF HELL'. Instantly, I was taken back to this time last year (Almost to the day) of when I watched that video. I remember how scared I was, how terrified the prospect of eternal damnation was to me.

Thankfully, the video is now nothing more than fear-mongering, which all the Christians lap up in the comments with their cries of 'JESUS CAN SAVE YOU' and 'PLEASE MY FRIENDS, DON'T GO TO HELL'.

But it makes me wonder, all these other videos with 'Experiences of Hell' are in abundance. Has the possibility ever crossed your mind that there could be a Hell, even if it weren't a Christian one?

Ive always said, if I die and find myself in hell, according to the doctrine of election, i am not even slightly at fault so I wouldnt feel an ounce of guilt. Same here. If I didnt know, why should i feel guilty?

I dont really wonder about the possibility. Hell was dreamed up to keep people in line for earthly control. No superior intelligence capable of masterminding everything would find eternity in hell justice.

Eternity isnt even real as eventually all the energy in the universe will be expended

Edit: upon reading the summary of the book I did get a chuckle. He describes the demons as speaking in a "blasphemous language." Think about that. He intentionally used a trigger word to sell his book to christians when that sentence makes no sense. Blasphemous language? How is a language blasphemous? You can speak blasphemy but a language cant be inherantly blasphemous. If anyone ever runs into this clown they should ask him what he meant.

Christianity is the religion of lies.

Don't believe in Hell?  Well not believing in Hell is choosing to go there.

Don't believe in Heaven?  Not believing in Heaven is choosing to NOT go there.

Because Christians can't admit they worship a monster.

I believed in the concept of hell when I was a xian.  I couldn't quite wrap my mind around the idea of eternal suffering and burning, so I figured it would be something that made a bit more sense.  And I can remember more than once, a pastor or other leader-type in the church saying that you can only be saved by believing in jesus, not just by good works or being a good person, then they'd always add something along the lines of "So if that sweet grandma that everybody loves and she makes cookies and pies for everybody and she's just sweet and gentle and good, well, if she doesn't believe in jesus, she'll burn in hell forever, regardless of how sweet or good she was in life."  I never thought that was fair or made sense.  The only way I could wrap my mind around that idea, as a xian, was to think, "god can do whatever it wants because it is god."  But that's so dumb.

After turning to agnosticism as something that made much more sense, I could ignore the idea of hell.

Now, I realize it's totally made up and it's just a control item for the church.

But, sheesh, the sweet grandma lady condemned to eternal burning and torture?  I still am floored by that example.

It's easy to see Hell as a man-made doctrine, but do the 'visions' and 'visits' do anything to shake your skepticism?

The visions and visits don't do a damn thing to change my mind. I used to believe in Hell, and at one time I would have said all of you (and now me) are going there.

It's just so much B.S. and the further I get from being a believer the sillier it is. I'm way beyond being just skeptical about it.

According to Biblegod, no one goes to Hell and comes back to tell about it, so far as I know. If anyone knows of anywhere in the Bible it says it's possible, I'd like to know.

Thanks, StarGazer for reminding me of that site.  I haven't perused it in a while. It was a fun one right after I deconverted. I particularly liked  "The AntiChrist Slideshow".

After following a master story-teller for nearly a decade, and having charismatic friends during that period tell me that they saw things like a Jamaican wizard morphing through a wall at a church event, I'm convinced that some folks just have overactive imaginations and aren't afraid to pretend out loud because of the reactions they get.

Do you think Near Death experiences are the result of chemical reactions in the brain or merely the people making stuff up?

Mostly chemicals and electrical.  Rarely people making stuff up.  Never people coming back from Stovokor.
