Calling Clerical Sex Abuse Protesters In Chile ‘Dumb,’ Pope Francis Sets Off Uproar

SANTIAGO, Chile — Many watched in disbelief: There he was, Pope Francis, calling people in Osorno, a city in southern Chile, “dumb” for protesting against a bishop accused of being complicit in clerical sexual abuse.

 

“The Osorno community is suffering because it’s dumb,” Pope Francis told a group of tourists on St. Peter’s Square, because it “has let its head be filled with what politicians say, judging a bishop without any proof.”

 

“Don’t be led by the nose by the leftists who orchestrated all of this,” the pope said.

I've been consistently disappointed with Pope Francis regarding what he does about all the sexual abuse that has happened within his organization.  So many people in the world are so excited as Francis bring an attitude that belonged in the 19th century as if that were progressive.

If it's true, that makes me really sad. How can they continue to be so incredibly thick in regards to sex abuse of kids?! There is just no justification for protecting those who do this or protecting those who protect them! What is the deal?!

I bet the threat of a tell all book keeps many from being thrown to the law. It won't be all kids. It'll be everything.

Just so long as it's kept quiet they don't care.

I truly believe they are a pit of everything they claim to despise.

It has been my hope that the recent scandals in the news have given young victims more courage to step forward and also made parents of young children less trusting and far more vigilant.  In other words the systematic rape of boys must have been affected by now.  If nothing else the perps would have to use more precautions which means committing their crimes less often.  Somebody in the organization must be upset at watching all their ill-gotten-gains get diverted to pay settlements.

I just something on YouTube about the Vatican vaults. They said they are still slowly going through the hundreds of thousands of documents stored there, but that they are open to public scrutiny up to 1939. I found that to be a very interesting year to use as the cut-off date. So, none of the war years or anything after the war is available? Why? I don't like to fall prey to conspiracy theories, but they haven't exactly made the world feel very good about their trustworthiness, so what all are they hiding?
