No one ever said that the effects of AGW are uniform. Even the greek national product has occasionally gone up a bit since our regime started pushing the country into financial slavery. The trend remains.

Whichever idea has more scientists agree with it, that's the one. :)

The study basically said they don't think the antarctica glacier melt as a major contributing factor in sea level elevation. If more results come supporting this study then scientists have to search more for the cause of sea level elevation. Very interesting study.

This fact of the link has been known for decades and it is not debatable, that the south polar ice mass is presently increasing.  Another fact is that Arctic Ice is depleting faster than antarctic ice sheets are gaining ice. Another fact is that the Earth wobbles on its exist changing the extent of sunlight each pole receives during the year. Every few thousand years one pole will warm up a bit while the other cools down a bit while the overall-global temperatures remain about the same. Larger cycles are in roughly 20-26 thousand year periods. This is a link explaining this and other related facts.

Of course others disagree as to shifting poles glacial dominance. Direct comparisons are somewhat difficult because there is no solid land under the north pole and surrounding area.

Ah I knew before long the Bad Astronomer would blog about this "finding".

Here's his words on it, and they say pretty much exactly what I supposed they would: Linky

Phil Plait, the Bad Astronomer, is a PhD astronomer and respected Blogger.  He is not neutral on the topic of man-made global warming since he has long criticized man-made global-warming deniers in his writings. Dr Plait obviously has a different source for his data but even the same data can be interpreted differently sometimes coming to different or opposite conclusions so I don’t think Dr. Plait has doctored his data.  Here is another related link relating to the NASA study.

This NASA study is generally nothing new concerning its conclusion since I have read the same conclusions coming from different sources for several years now. The main difference is that this time the source of the new data is NASA.

Even if Antarctic ice sheets as a whole are gaining size and mass, some glaciers are recognized as depleting in size partly because there are several active volcanoes within and under them along with still others not presently known to be heat producing at their surface. The largest active volcano is on Mount Erebus. It is one of the few craters in the world with a permanent lake of molten lava in its crater. Other active volcanoes lie well under Antarctic glaciers, their heat contributing to glacial melting.

This is an interesting addition to the discussion that I found in today's (Nov. 4) science news concerning global cooling and an extended British study. If true all glaciers at the south pole and elsewhere would greatly grow within a single decade.

I sure hope so.

The way the link describes such a decade of global cooling, the results would be very severe. We could tolerate a little global cooling but not to the extent described in the above link. Many northern hemisphere countries in northern Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, Russia, etc. would suffer greatly.
