Obama Is The Anti-Christ

Read the ridiculous comments...stuff like:

"Obama will take over the UN, then force the US to be put under UN control..."

"Obama is the anti-Christ, he's going to bring about the end!"

"This Bible predicts a coming anti-Christ who will (albeit briefly) rule over a very dark, perverted world. An ex-president seeking such a position is highly suspicious. Obama's lust for power is also unusual, considering he has had a failed presidency. Or maybe his term has been a success, in that the U.S. is weaker and more in debt and more divided than it has ever been. The Bible predicts a One World Government, presided over by the devil in human form. I don't know where Obama fits into all this, but it will be interesting to see who rises up in these End of Days. Have Faith in Christ Jesus, be saved into the Holy Kingdom, and let the evil forces of this fallen world do their own thing. You'll be safe in the Hands of the Real Power!"

It's amusing. I used to believe this shit - especially that comment directly above. I see it now as absolute, delusional craziness. The shit that should get people tossed into a looney bin. But because it's religion, it's a-okay!

I remember when Obama was first elected president and the evangelicals said the same thing - he will not leave the office, he will start killing christians, he'll suspend the constitution, in a few years the end times will begin...

Now that his term is almost over, none of super bad shit has came true, and he is talking about leaving office and no signs of a suspension of the constitution is happening (nor the end times), NOW people are saying..."Well, he's just, you know, going to run for Secretary General of the UN and take over the world!"

He even laughed it off at a speech not long ago. He has no plans on running for anything else. After being president, I think him and Michelle want to quietly retire from politics.

But don't try and convince Christian morons. Of course, if they'll believe in Sky Daddies and Magic Earth Creation, then it's no wonder they'll flock straight to conspiracy theory bullshit.

Where are the Death Panels?  We were promised Death Panels!

Christians forget false political claims the way they forget false rapture predictions.

A new Antichrist is named every year. It's like the People's Choice Awards.

Would be great if someone put together a list of quotes complete with links or at least listed the references to similar quotes about Obama starting in 2009 and beside them listed the fact check.

Up until the beginning of Obama's second term I would get a weekly email from a fundy with quotes like the above and I would send them right back with evidence to the contrary. Wish I had kept my responses.

Thanks for reminding me. I remember the Lyndon LaRouche-movement (total nutjobs, if you didn't know) were handing out flyers about that stuff, drawing parallels between Obama and Hitler. Since I was a borderline tinfoil-hat back then, I almost fell for it.

Just another day in conservative-land.

When the next Democratic President takes office next January, they will assume the mantle as the "anti-christ."

Ha!  If one of the current Democrat candidates takes the presidency, the anti-Christ can take another four years off and watch the real professionals work!

Really just joking Blood. I know we are at damn near opposite ends of the whole political thing, but things are cray-cray out there no matter who "gets in".

This is a good read. It's from 1996 and not up to date with current AC candidates but still and interesting book.

Nice! I might grab that book and give it a read.

One of the questions that lead to my deconversion is the constant "it's the END! XYZ is the antichrist" and yet...no end ever happening. After taking a religious history class in college, it became apparent that no one knows when it'll end, considering since Jesus supposed ascension, christians have been saying it's the end in every generation.

2,000 years of "any day now".

I can remember people on CARM who, whilst otherwise fairly sensible-sounding, insistent upon this particular piece of conspiracy-theory fantasism. Though I held to Christian beliefs at this time, I have to say that I disagreed with their views, and the words I would use to describe what I probably felt about them even back then was "stark raving bonkers". (Not that I wasn't as bonkers in my own way mind...)

I can also recall that bogus would-be prophet Choo Thomas (a name that to this day has associations in my mind with a certain anthropomorphized tank engine created by the Rev. W. Awdry) claiming in "Heaven Is So Real!" (it likely isn't, and neither is her book) that George W. Bush would be the "end-times president" after whose time in office the Rapture would occur, or some such hokum. No wonder they think Obama's the Antichrist... but no Rapture, and near the end of his tenure (more than 7 years I think) has revealed himself to be little more than Just Another Politician.

The antichrist failed. Ronald (6) Wilson (6) Reagan (6). It's clear as mud.

Why do they keep looking at politicians? Everybody that ever read the book of Revelation knows the anti-Christ is the Pope. Probably the current and (according to St. Malachi) the last one to boot.

The question is, who's the beast?
