Goodbye Jesus

Been Away For A Bit, Not That Long Really, But Some Stuff Happened.

Some may have noticed I've been gone for a bit, and the timing of real life might have made my reasoning seem a bit petty due to my last post being a stupid argument over nothing important. I'm not mad at any mods over a stupid thing that had to do with a movie thread in the off topic section. I still think I'm right in principal there, but it had nothing to do with why I dropped off the site suddenly at the end of last year. I didn't have a butthurt tantrum and run off or anything, it was just real life taking priority for a bit.

My Stepdad has been diagnosed with cancer in his spine, lungs, and prostate.

It's serious, but treatable according to the doctors. It probably will kill him eventually, but there's a good chance that won't happen for several years. There is no 'you have X years to live' diagnosis and it's in early stages and could possibly be eliminated completely if everything goes well. He's going to have to undergo treatment and that will suck, but he'll probably be around for a while yet.

Anyway, I've been busy with helping them out recently and haven't had a lot of time for forums. If I vanish again for a while, that's probably why, but everything seems to have calmed down for now so my schedule is normal again for the time being.

Sorry to hear that sir. I know of people who've suffered from cancer and that it isn't really great to endure, but hope it goes well for your stepfather.

Hi ContraBardus, it has been awhile, hasn't it?

Sorry to hear about your stepdad. My aunt died of cancer (while staying with my parents since it was close to the hospital), and I can say that it is an ugly way to go. Glad to hear it's manageable. A lot of people say that in times of such crisis we turn to God and rekindle our faith in whatever religion we are familiar with. In all honesty, I find great comfort in not having to believe in a God that I can blame for whatever injustice has befallen me, and instead trusting in the wisdom of man, refined by centuries of scientific advancement, to deliver the hope of a solution.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about that. I totally understand being away while you're dealing with this family crisis. I was away for several months, over a year ago, when I was helping with my dying brother. Oh I had plenty of downtime -- oh the long, agonizing down time! -- but didn't have the head space to come here. I guess we were focused on our little circle, and I was internalizing stuff, and I was keeping oh so busy with stuff, and I didn't want to come out of that for a while. Maybe I should have. But I totally get where you are coming from. Do what you gotta do for your family and for your own sanity. We'll be here when you're available to come back and join in again.

Be strong. I'm hoping for the best for you.
