hockeyfan70
What difference does it make and who cares? She's worried about this stuff. He's wrong. The Greek word is not heros or heri. It's cheiros. In every other instance in the NT, it means hand. It does not mean "arm from the fingers all the way up." Most of the time it is used when Jesus took somebody by the hand to either heal them or help them get up. Here's every instance in the NT. Matthew 8:15 N-GFS GRK: ἥψατο τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ NAS: He touched her hand, and the fever KJV: he touched her hand, and the fever INT: he touched the hand of her and Matthew 9:25 N-GFS GRK: ἐκράτησεν τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ NAS: and took her by the hand, and the girl KJV: and took her by the hand, and the maid INT: he took hold of the hand of her and Mark 1:31 N-GFS GRK: κρατήσας τῆς χειρός καὶ ἀφῆκεν NAS: her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever KJV: her by the hand, and lifted INT: having taken of the hand And left Mark 5:41 N-GFS GRK: κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου NAS: the child by the hand, He said KJV: the damsel by the hand, and said INT: having taken the hand of the child Mark 8:23 N-GFS GRK: ἐπιλαβόμενος τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ τυφλοῦ NAS: the blind man by the hand, He brought KJV: the blind man by the hand, and led INT: having taken hold of the hand of the blind [man] Mark 9:27 N-GFS GRK: κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ ἤγειρεν NAS: took him by the hand and raised KJV: took him by the hand, and lifted him INT: having taken by the hand him raised up Luke 1:71 N-GFS GRK: καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τῶν NAS: FROM OUR ENEMIES, And FROM THE HAND OF ALL KJV: and from the hand of all that hate INT: and from [the] hand of all those who Luke 1:74 N-GFS GRK: ἀφόβως ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν ῥυσθέντας NAS: us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, KJV: out of the hand of our INT: [that] without fear out of [the] hand of our enemies having been saved Luke 8:54 N-GFS GRK: κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς ἐφώνησεν NAS: took her by the hand and called, KJV: her by the hand, and called, INT: having taken hold of the hand of her cried John 10:28 N-GFS GRK: ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου NAS: one will snatch them out of My hand. ♦ Fuego ♦
I remember guys like this always coming up with "The Correct Translation" for things like "Jesus didn't say he'd cut off any branch that didn't bear fruit. He said he'd nurture and care for it!" "The name of Jesus is wrong, it's really JEHOSHUARRRXXMBQ" etc. This guy in particular ignores the fact that no world leader has forced everyone small or great to receive a tattoo or chip or anything, but still equates a tattoo to THE MARK OF THE BEAST. He's a loon.

hockeyfan70
Well, I actually still have my NIV Interlinear Greek-English New Testament on my bookshelf in my home office, so it wasn't too much trouble. I used to eat up Greek, because there are some really interesting words that have way better meaning in Greek than English. I also have a bunny that lives in my office and roams around, and she actually ate the binding off my Interlinear, so she must be an evil bunny. hockeyfan70
I'm considering a hare or possibly rabbit! Don't tell my wife We got ours because we were only intending to raise her for a short time and then give her to the farmer who let us have her for awhile. But then coyotes kept eating all the rabbits on the farm, and we were like "nut uh, we're not letting that happen." So now she's one of our pets and she's awesome. Moderator TABA Posted May 7, 2016 Moderator Share Posted May 7, 2016 I used to think cats were cold and unaffectionate, until I met my friend's rabbit. Maybe this was not a typical bunny, but it made the cat seem extroverted and gregarious.

♦ Fuego ♦
I occasionally see Christians that throw a tantrum because an employee access card or employee number has 666 in it. It still isn't being forced upon them by a world ruler as a sign of loyalty, it isn't on their forehead or hand, but somehow it's still evil. It's really just a number between 665 and 667, but that would require a tiny bit of reason.

You're right and I realize that came across as condescending which was not my point. However, her profile gave me the impression she was an atheist as it claimed she had "no god(s)". I'll admit straight away that I can still worry about similar stuff during my paranoid periods. I was not trying to be a smart ass, so sorry if I offended anyone, OP included.
Mike D
What never ceases to amaze me is that Christians always change their tune about what the "mark of the beast" actually is, as technology evolves. Over the years i've heard everything from brands to tattoos to SS cards, to barcodes (yes because we all would look so attractive with a big ass barcode stamped across our forehead or in our hand), to RFID chip, to biometric scanning into a central database, who knows what they think now... iphone app called "666" Maybe a QR code stamped prominently on the forehead? WWJD?

WWJD? Much like their constant remaking of what revelation is supposed to mean. Every generation of christian has generally thought the world was coming to an end in their lifetime. You can find plenty of writings from just about every generation of christian that says "in my lifetime"...and 2000 years later, here we still are!
