Hi Everyone,

I’m a former fundamentalist Christian/pastor/preacher. I was in the deep end, not quite Westboro, but in the same filthy pond.

I contemplated whether to leave the past in the past or be involved in helping those still trapped in fundamentalist Christianity. As much as I tried to leave it behind, I found myself being approached by many people with a question. A good number of my former friends have now gone the same direction as me. Other are not as hard-core, so that’s good.

I thought to myself, what would have nudged me away from fundamentalist Christian, or at least force me to question and doubt. So I wrote notes over a number of years and compiled them into a book that I hope ex-Christians will give to Christian family and friends. My small contribution. Had a book like this been placed in my hands m decades ago, it would have severely shaken my foundations. I know the mindset and how to work on those niggling doubts.

Welcome to Ex-c xplore. It's great to see another pastor on board here! I always love it when a 'higher-upper' leaves the church. I'll have a peek at your book. It's wonderful.. the more pastors that write why they left, the more people who have doubts will read and see that they are not alone. We can feel so alone when we start doubting that the bible is just another book put together by the ancient peoples' of the dark ages.

Looking forward to hearing more from you!

I just read the introduction of your book. It looks amazing! It reminds me so much of Charles Templeton's book, ''Farewell To God'', which was the easiest book on christianity I ever read because he got to the point very quickly and simply using layman's language. I hate having to look up every third word!!  I would like to order this book. Does it come in a soft cover and where can I find that? I don't want the kindle version because I know this is a book I would like to 'mark up' and make notes. Lol (Like I used to do to my bible)

One of the things I look for in a book immediately is for something that I have never heard before and you succeeded within the first few pages when you mentioned, 'Emptycostals!!'  yellow.gif That was so funny!

Thanks!

Getting back into the mindset in order to understand what words will have the most impact on a Christian is a very valuable skill, but a rough thing to do. Thanks for your contribution.
