I remember reading somewhere that the Bible says in the end times that human knowledge and technology will be super advanced... I'm not sure where I read this but I don't think the word technology would even be in the bible haha. Can anyone tell me what part of the bible this is from and why I shouldn't freak out about this? I get stuck on things like this every now and then :-(

I believe you're referring to the "knowledge will increase" verse.

Knowledge increases all the time throughout history, easy prediction to make. I imagine the End Times nuts had quite a time of it when the printing press was invented as that was the biggest information explosion to date.

I think this might be the passage you are looking for.

Daniel 12:1-4

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Why should you not be concerned?  Because this doesn't really say anything.  Of course the collective knowledge of the human race is going to increase over time, that's just what we do.  This prophecy, like most, is so vague that it can be interpreted to mean many different things.  There is a good reason for this, when prophecies are specific, the tend to be very wrong.  One of the most common examples is Ezekiel's prophecy about the city of Tyre.  He said it would be destroyed forever. (Ezekiel 26).  Just one problem with that though.  https://www.google.com/search?q=tyre+satellite+picture&sa=X&biw=1525&bih=734&tbm=isch&imgil=_pWhs7g-Y8yF1M%253A%253B-omEP2wkaxd4hM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.gettyimages.com%25252Fdetail%25252Fnews-photo%25252Fthis-is-a-satellite-image-featuring-an-overview-of-tyre-news-photo%25252F71517736&source=iu&pf=m&fir=_pWhs7g-Y8yF1M%253A%252C-omEP2wkaxd4hM%252C_&usg=__mcN7fYQ9ZyF1NrzuO-m6cd_fPbA%3D&dpr=0.9&ved=0ahUKEwjT18L-087NAhVBSiYKHbW3B6IQyjcINw&ei=fX10V5OlEMGUmQG1756QCg#imgrc=_pWhs7g-Y8yF1M%3A That is a modern satellite image of Tyre and as far as I know, it was never destroyed, not even temporarily.

A lot of the prophecies in the book of Daniel share a quality with many of the others that are found in the old testament.  They read like the ravings of someone that had too many mushrooms, and this one is no exception.

Yeah, most of Revelation operates on pure interpretation/conjecture.  Which is why I can't take it seriously.  You could come to, literally, an infinite number of different "conclusions" out of it because it's all written in metaphors and imagery that is extremely ambiguous.  So I wouldn't sweat it.  The "technology" spin is purely 21st century preachers' conjecture based on their limited knowledge and only what they see (and probably fear) about the world we live in today, because they assume the world is as "advanced" as it could ever possibly be, so they assume the end is imminent.

The Book of Daniel is fraudulent fiction masquerading as a prophetic work.

Well they have got me sucked into it... I have anxiety and since this stuff has popped up again for me my anxiety had gone into overdrive! I'm not worried about the above verse in daniel anymore, but am worried about the mark of the beast in revelation being microchips or even our mobile phones and using apple pay or similar. I just had a good read of overcame faith's pinned thread of top 10 reasons not to fear end times scenarios and it just made the fear of the mark of the beast worse for me. I actually didn't even know that this verse had been interpreted that way until i read the thread... lately I have had a sick feeling every time i have used paywave on my credit card to buy something :-(

The problem is not religion, the problem is you have a phobia, religion is just the focus of it. Professional therapy can help you overcome phobias.

I am aware that I have a religious related anxiety disorder- I actually met a member of this forum (blackpudding- she actually only lived a few blocks from me at the time!) a few years ago and it was her that found information on scrupulosity... I fit the description perfectly! Have been really good lately until I stumbled across something on facebook :-(

I have tried to get help, my GP at the time felt that explaining his personal beliefs was a great way to help me, another female counselor took the opportunity to tell me how wonderful and loving god was while i sat in tears across from her and a psychologist I saw felt it was appropriate to answer phone calls from her husband during our sessions. I gave up after that.

You should consider working with a secular mental health professional again.

"Knowledge will increase" ...yet some will resist knowledge and build a Noah's Ark in Kentucky, complete with dinosaur exhibits. :)

I get anxious about religion when my anxiety disorder flares up and I'm not on medication. I also have a pretty religious father who I live with and that didn't help much either when he decided I needed God after a major panic attack I had.

Well I used to, but I've started a type of therapy called neurofeedback which has helped me overcome my fears immensely and I don't have anxiety issues anymore.

Anyways..what helped me before I started neurofeedback and was not on medication was this website and doing my own research about issues such as the end of the world. My fears about that sort of thing eased a bit and helped me think rationally and I was able to not worry about it as much.

And psychologists are not supposed to be taking personal calls during therapy sessions. Mine doesn't and I have to leave a message with the office if he's the only there. I suggest finding a therapist who will not do that so they can focus on helping their clients. I'm sorry she did that to you. :/
