Do you frequent Christian forums as you do here?

1. If you do, how are your views treated.

2. If you don't, is there a reason why.

And

3. Do you believe the spirit of God sent you here.

1) No.

2) It's hard being as holy as those that frequent. I don't like that attitude.

3) No.

Then, what the hell?! You're tripping me out end3.

Anyway, you don't like all other Christians or just Internet Christians?

No, but I do visit occasionally just out of curiosity.

1. I’m not sure about all of them but I know the Rapture Ready Board has some strict guidelines on what members can post. I’m sure my views on the rapture and the end times would not be allowed.

2. I believe I should be where I can share the Christian message to those who have not heard or might have questions or concerns.

3. Yes

Ironhorse, I truly respect where you're coming from, even though I don't see the plausibility of the claims of Christianity. Jesus was the kind of person who hung out with the 'undesirables' of society (which many Christians would consider us Ex-C's to be), and focused on spreading the message by being friends with the poor etc. You are essentially doing  that, and thus are far more genuine than the stereotypical churchy judging types.

But why would a person's "saved or not" status depend on whether or not they believe in claims that are highly improbable? Being a Christian means that you truly, sincerely believe that all humans would have been automatically doomed for an eternity in hell after death, but that the Creator of the earth came down as a human/his own son, lived a perfect life, died horribly, and resurrected himself, and that this act was a sacrifice to save us all from eternal torment. There are a lot of aspects of that claim that reasonable people couldn't just automatically accept. It's not about "rejection" or "not loving God" or anything, but just simple skepticism of unbelievable things. It's like someone telling you that there's an alternate dimension where faeries live, or that the mythology of the Greek gods is true - you wouldn't believe that, right? If it turned out to be the truth, does that make you a rejecting sinner who deserves to be tortured forever for not buying into something that sounds like a fantasy story?

Why is "belief or unbelief" the litmus test for who makes it and who doesn't?

I think the first issue each person must decide is whether God is real or not.

If there is no God, then the question is meaningless.

If God is real, viewing claims as improbable is meaningless.

Ironhorse,

Why does believing in a higher power mean that it would have to be the God described in the Bible?

It's possible for both to exist. A higher level intelligence in the universe ("God") could still exist, while the Bible also could have been written by men and based on myths of the iron age tribal times.

Just because a God could be real, doesn't mean that it must automatically be the God of Christianity.

Or, if this is incorrect, please prove why :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I got banned in ten seconds - literally no more than ten seconds - after I registered for a Christian chat room under the name QuestioningGod.

I registered, the screen said "QuestioningGod has joined the chat" and I was instantly kicked out before I could type one letter.

Additionally, a little window popped up and said, "Moderator, please ban this IP address at its next instance".

Oh, and IronHorse...

"2. I believe I should be where I can share the Christian message to those who have not heard or might have questions or concerns."

That's not here. Fuck you.

Ever hear the saying, let sleeping dogs lie, or how about, don't poke the snake? In other words leave the Xians alone. They tend to be like the bat shit crazy neighbor next door, they just keep showing up at our door without an invitation.

So much for "welcome the stranger." I spell it h-y-p-o-c-r-i-c-y.
