Popular Post tycoondon Posted August 21, 2016 Popular Post Share Posted August 21, 2016 After many months, including asking some questions here for motivation, I finally came out to my "fundy" wife today. It was so anticlimactic that I feel almost stupid for having worried so much. I brought up some doubts I was having back in January and it didn't go well (I thought) so I pushed it off all the way until this afternoon. But she thought I had came out back then in January. So when I told her today, she just said "I knew that and I've known for a long time." Then she said "don't worry, I'm not going to leave you." I can't tell you the relief. I know a lot of people here don't get the same reaction so I almost hate to brag. But my wife is awesome. She told me in no uncertain terms not to expect the same of her. But that's the only line she drew. She's willing to hear me out and let me be myself so long as I'm not mean or condescending to her (which I have no desire to be). We're still together, but my departure from Christianity has been catastrophic. I didn't take it as a brag =) I'm actually thrilled for you, knowing all-too-well how it could have gone... I came out to my wife in the Summer of 2014 and there was so much tension, for so many months, that I had to start going to church again - just to smooth things out. Let me tell you, just as Florduh maintains, that is not the best approach. Case in point - when I skipped church last Sunday to get some left over yard work done before the heat got too unbearable, she acted as though I had stabbed her in the back. I would be better off today if I had never gone back. In fact - it looks like we're headed for the big ""D". But back to you and your situation. I think it's healthy that your wife will listen and that you cane talk to each other about this.
