Thurisaz
Linky to German article Spanish corporation setting up a new solar farm in Chile expect a price of below 0.03 US$ per kilowatt hour. Compare to other sources of power. Here in the rainy Vaterland of course it's much worse. And by worse I mean a shocking 10 cent per kWh (the article doesn't specify whether these are Euro or US cent, but the difference ain't that large anyway). But don't expect to hear about that in mainstream "news". Just saying.
rjn
What would das Vaterland do without its precious coal industry?
Thurisaz
That's exactly it. The 1 % wants its coal profits to keep flowing. And of course it wants those money-printing machines known as nuclear plants back. You should have seen the massive propaganda campaign they started years ago when the bankster crisis started and power prices also got shook. I don't mind nuclear at all though, it sure as hell beats coal.
Thurisaz
Yup as long as nothing bad happens. And if history teaches us one thing then it's this: Humans will fuck it up. If we could somehow be sure nothing bad could happen if, say, someone comes in to work wasted, or wants to impress the cute janitor with his manliness, or whatever... yeah if we could be 100 % sure no accidents will occur then I'd be willing to reconsider nuclear power. LifeCycle
Fortunately, solar power has dropped immensely... Something like 70% since 2009. The complete systems used to be something only the 1% would invest but they are much more manageable now. I believe there is a massive push by energy and big business to prolong its common usage as much as possible for profits and to keep their monopoly. But, the price is dropping so it will be far more accessible for the average Joe.
Thurisaz
If all else fails the 1 % will set up new laws that limit the use of solar power. It's happening over here as we post.
