I would assume it was so that the mother could avoid a trial, that all can be agonizing as hell. I would hope it was something the mother agreed to though, instead of just the lawyers.

 

That being said I agree the death penalty was merited.

Even if he were to be given the death penalty, it would be decades before it was done. I don't agree with capital punishment, but if they're going to use it, they shouldn't drag it out.

That article seems sensationalist. It says he is "accused" of the crimes, but writes the rest of it as though he has already been convicted. I don't know how the Philippine system works, but it seems written to stir up outrage by assuming that Sully is guilty.

 

Not saying that the crimes aren't horrible; they are. I'm just pointing out what's weird about the article.
