Thanksgiving Stories?

Anyone want to share thanksgiving stories about your still-believing families? Mine is pretty mild, but the topic of Trump came up. Everyone agreed he was a terrible choice for president, but then my brother said he hoped he would get impeached so Pence could take over. ???? That was the first day of our stay and I decided right there and then to keep my mouth firmly shut. Rest of it was ok.

ETA: I'm sure some of you may think I should have opened my mouth, but first, I'm not any good at debating off-the-cuff, much better at it in writing. Second, it's just not worth it.

I'm with you there Daffodil. I have tried off the cuff debating with my father who is also the church pastor. While I can make my points, I think I cede ground because he is 1) very forceful, 2) very experienced with talking to people and arguing his point.

However, put me in a writing format and I can pretty much tear most Christians apart.

As for the thanksgiving story, I'm in NZ so.... the only story was I was ranting to co-workers about why WE had a black Friday as well, when it's purely an US thing.

However, we have talked about Trump, and the family is generally agreed that he was the 'better' option. I agree with this as well. However once the conversation pops to moral and social issues I have to be careful with what I say lest I start WW3.

I wasn't suggesting Clinton was better. I couldn't stand either of them. ????

I understand Britain is also now doing a Black Friday thing, too. Seems we have caused an epidemic! How do they explain it in New Zealand? Do you have a holiday around that time?

Oh, I realise you weren't suggesting that, I was just saying we thought Trump better. I think he's smarter than the left thinks and thus because of their preconceived bias he blindsides them.

They don't explain it! They just jump on the hype and have huge sales. No holiday, nothing! No reason other that being an imported commercial grab.

Same with Halloween. I go to people and say... so what is Halloween about? What does it mean for NZ? *Blank stare* Halloween, I explain, is to ward off the winter solstice evil sprits.. and we are in spring you dupes! It symbolises the ending of the life period of the year, and coming into the death period.. not coming into the life season. "Ohhhh really?" *Sigh*

We do it at the same time the US does it... because, you know, money for costumes and stuff. Idiotic! Morons, sheep following unthinking masses.

So US fall, New Zealand spring.

Now that I have vilified the uneducated youth, and parents of my generation, I feel my work is complete tongue.png
