Popular Post dangitbobby83
I couldn't be happier! A few nights ago she admitted to me that she, herself has been having doubts and problems with christianity for along time. But being a pastors daughter, for her fathers sake (him potentially losing his job over a "Unrighteous Family" - yes, it was a real possible deal with some churches having a non-christian daughter. They would view him as a failure as a father and unable to lead a church), and for the fear of losing her social circle, she hid her doubts. However, when I came out as an atheist a few years ago, it encouraged her. As she met atheist, agnostic and non-christian friends, she started to realize it was okay to drop the "christian" title altogether. So the other day she fully admitted to me that she is no longer christian. She is still a deist of sorts, believing in some spiritual and supernatural things that bring her comfort, but carries no dogma other than "be nice to people". Regardless, this is a huge relief for me. She's always been super laid back about people's personal beliefs, never judging them for much of anything. But the fact that she admitted the other day that she was not christian at all, and even went on a rant with me about evil biblegod is...well, as you can imagine, it made me smile!

Lilith666
Woo! I think I recall you posting awhile ago about her conceding that she had doubts about god, and you being frustrated. I am overjoyed for you two. I clearly remember feeling extremely angry that biblegod the supposedly merciful is actually a monster. I hope your wife is okay. Best wishes to her, and you in supporting her.

dangitbobby83
Thanks guys! Been over the moon with it since she told me. It helps, too, because I feel like she's an ally now when her parents will want to start forcing religion upon my daughter.

sdelsolray
That's a great development for your nuclear family. I suppose the next advancement will involve setting intelligent and rational boundaries with the grandparents.

Likely be dealt with this weekend or next!

Voice
Congrats bobby. Both of you will be treading egg shells figuring out how to help her dad keep his job. It can be done. There are ways of saying you believe without saying you believe. Do your best to avoid the fundie who asks, "do you believe Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead?" Those will go straight to her dad's supervisor.
Llwellyn
Praise Cheeses! Now you will have to be especially wise and responsible, as you will be part of the explanation of whatever novel behaviors and thoughts will follow.
