  1. Jupiter and Saturn are already close enough in the twilight sky that you can see them - Saturn is up and to the left and fainter. FWIW, the conjunction is closer to Yule than to Christmas, so you could probably slip in a snide comment about Allfather Oðinn opening His eye and muttering "Hvað í fjandanum eruð þið að gera þarna niðri?"

  2. Hello unbelievers. It's been about four months since I started loosing my faith in god. I have read the bible. I've read the gospels several times. I've read Genesis creation story several times. Not to make this too long, I just want to encourage you to study and use logic. I'm really happy to no longer believe in a heaven or hell.

  4. This forum can be therapeutic like any well-intended advice can be. One can listen to advice that makes sense to them and sometimes gain insight into solving the problems of life without faulty religious doctrine, and sometimes get some laughs while doing so. Here's a couple of AA jokes. If your intention is to drink and drive be sure you have a car. The good news is that after joining AA I don't drink any more. The bad news is that I don't drink any less.

  5. So. . . moving on to the subject of " the alleged non-existence of self" . . . this is a tough one and where Buddhist thought starts to venture into , what shall we call it? The weird? The inexplicable? For several years, I've been listening off and on to old recordings from Alan Watts in the 60s and he talks about the non-self a lot. I'm fascinated with the concept and on some levels it makes sense. If, for example, we are just the product of, say the cells that constitute "self" and those cells die and are replaced by other cells over time, how is it that we retain a sense of self? Acco

  7. “People don’t get what they deserve. They just get what they get, and there’s nothing any of us can do about it.” - Dr. House No point getting knotted up about a fairy tale. If you're drawn to such things, pick another fairy tale to fret over for awhile. Islam, Scientology, Ancient Aliens - anything! Eventually you should figure out it's all crap. If you're not making any progress toward rationality then please seek professional help because there's no need to suffer for someone else's delusion.

  8. I've had select Jamiroquai on my playlists for years. That and assorted acid jazz / jazz funk groups. Also check this out: The album has some pretty psychedelic tracks throughout.
