  1. I don't mind having an End3 sock puppet around. Like I always say: "Better a Master of Puppets than a Pastor of Muppets."

  3. These are kind of interesting comments concerning the possibility of extra-terrestrials. https://www.space.com/would-alien-life-take-our-call-curious-kids?utm_source=Selligent&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SDC_Newsletter&utm_content=SDC_Newsletter+&utm_term=2875217

  4. I get on my soap box with the church/state topic. The combination of any authoritarian religion that thinks it is the only way, with the power of the state, is a terrible mistake. Power corrupts, and absolute power absolutely corrupts. And the combination of those two powers makes it "absolute". Even beginning to overlap the two is beginning a slippery slope.

  6. Our Easter tradition is to drink red wine and sing along to the movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" which doesn't make sense unless you realize how subversive that film really is. Favorite points include the Judas POV, especially at the very end. Plus the music is killer. Your mileage may vary.

  8. I would agree. I think we are capable of knowing everything that any potential advanced ETs know. As always, we just don't know what we don't know. If they're advanced, then they've had more time to learn more about everything. Religion steals the word spiritual. They say that the more religious you are, the more spiritual you are. Incorrect. Religious people are very concerned with following a bunch of external rules. Spirituality is hard to define, and I'm starting to think that's the entire point. It's a journey that usually seems to last for the rest of your life and seems to be a

  9. I've also been very fascinated in this topic for a while. There are a few researchers in this space that I like to drop in on from time to time and brush up on their latest findings. What you learn very quickly is "ufology" as they call is, is not an isolated subject. Just like everything else, it ties in with history, archaeology, physics and biology and chemistry, politics, government, and even religion. It's a lot more than just "does this guy's abduction story seem legit?" At this point, it's hard for me to deny that the US government is interested in UFOs and spend

  10. I take it that you are a younger poster? Just checking because it's better to understand who we're advising about what. The bottom line is we are not generally afraid of sinning because we don't believe in the concept of original sin anymore. We've concluded that it's just mythology and not literally true. However, that is not a green light to act horrible, hurt people, feel justified in lying, or anything similar. There exists a socially constructed order of morality regardless of the existence of christianity or any other religion. And striving to do your best to live a good lif

  11. I've been thinking about the Fermi Paradox and have arrived at a number of tentative conclusions that appear to satisfy the two things that we observe. 1. We observe that we are alone in the universe. ( I'm sceptical of any evidence suggesting otherwise.) 2. We observe that Earth-like conditions should prevail on many planets in our galaxy, which is one of 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. I therefore conclude the following. A. We are not alone in the universe. B. Most likely, we are alone in o

  13. 13.8 billion years since the Big Bang may not be infinite time, but it certainly gives plenty of opportunity for ancient interstellar civilizations to evolve. The problem is why SETI efforts have had no success. Perhaps their communication methods are far in advance of anything we can detect? I personally believe that advanced alien support for ancient human development is the most parsimonious explanation for why the hundreds of thousands of years of stone age culture suddenly advanced to metal and mathematics in the pyramid age, and for the truly amazing and inexplicable mysteries of t
