  1. Scalia's career was filled with bigotry and hypocrisy. I see nothing wrong without neglecting to pay homage to him.

Obama didn't neglect to pay homage to him, he had Biden go in his place, as heads of state often do.

@florduh When did Scalia commit murder?

    4. florduh

      florduh

Lilith666: I don't know if Scalia murdered anyone. My point was that being appointed to a high office doesn't automatically make one worthy of executing that office in a beneficial way or make the person worthy of respect if he's a douche.

  2. Is this 'Ash Wednesday' new? I haven't seen it until this year.

Catholics also celebrate Maudy Thursday, although they don't call it that.

Saw that all through my childhood lol. But then again that was in a tiny catholic country. Its less common in the US.

  3. It's funny how now in my life religion rarely ever presents itself as an issue or something I worry about or obsess over. I feel like I'm largely able to live my normal life much more freely. I'm honestly surprised this period in my life has come, especially given how much I obsessed about it before.

Nice to see you again Falloutdude. Glad to hear things are working good for you.

  4. Lesson learned. Telling someone you like them is ultimately not worth the subsequent pain of rejection. Loneliness is much less painful, I knew this intuitively before, but now I am reminded by experience. I'm tired of getting my heart broke, it's just not worth it.

I've been there too, dude. Eventually I thought maybe the "fishing" analogy sort of works: you cast your line out there, and a lot of times, you don't get any bites, but sometimes you do. Don't give up on the whole of humanity! Stepping back and delving into, and developing, those parts of yourself/your life that have the most to give to someone may be a good move. Anyway, thinking of you, f

Patience, grasshopper. You were indoctrinated for a long time, it can take a while to recover. Try to be gentle with yourself.

  6. So apparently I'm less of a man/many women wouldn't date me because I've had sex with another man. Meh, good thing I don't really want to be with a woman. :P

Can you really think of anything manlier than having sex with another man, though

    2. FreeThinkerNZ

      FreeThinkerNZ

FWIW, I have no issue about sex with a bi guy. I would have an issue dating a guy who was bi but in denial about it. In my world, any sexual orientation is fine.

  7. I give up on love and romance. Everyone just uses you and throws you away when they're done, like a damn kleenex. i'm tired of having my heart torn apart.

i totally agree. i've had it with guys who treat me like shit and abandon me when something else comes along. i'm done with guys who treat me like a last resort, and my trust won't come easy or cheap anymore.

Our bosses stuck GPS units on our vans because guys were driving around all day, going out to the lake, etc. Guys were complaining about being watched all the time. Freakin deserve it for that kind of behavior.

  11. Got caught by my mom putting makeup on, planned on putting it on in the bathroom, I guess I always knew I wouldn't be able hide it forever, I just figured I'd last longer than one hour....

So she gave you lip-gloss as a test? I hope your mother learns to accept you for who you are.

    3. Falloutdude

      Falloutdude

She didn't mind the lip gloss, but it made me want to buy eyeliner, eye shadow, and lipstick. I basically told her either she accepts it, of she's not going to be able to be a part of my life. She says she does, but I told her it's going to have to take time for me to trust her, considering her past actions. MM it wasn't a test, I guess somehow she didn't consider it a girl thing. idk.

Weird, at least she's making an effort to accept it though :) better than most responses you could've gotten

It's a rule that God set up, that's why I said that being on here helped me; I came on here trying to explain to folk that everlasting torture is NOT God's way (so many folk had anxiety over that) & I got blessed, then it made me develop a fondness for folk around here & I don't forget the folk on this website :)

  15. Accidentally said my (gay) uncle's name too loud when I decided to call him, mom flipped out. It's so nice to be part of a happy, homophobic family.

  18. One question of note is that who are the ones doing most of this persecution? Are they humanists, secularists or atheists (on the whole)? Some international/intergovernmental conspiracy? No they are fundamentalist Muslims. What did you expect? I mean seriously, it's not just Christians who have been persecuted by opposing religious groups, or even political ones. Need I remind you of Christian's persecution of pagans or even of other Christians? I would estimate the numbers of historical maltreatment perpetrated by Christians, if available would amount to as many instances, if not more, of suc

  21. I guess that's kind of what I am trying to say. I don't feel guilty about anything.... I don't know why I don't, I am just trying to give a possible reason for it. If I don't make sense then never mind. It makes sense, it sounds like you experience lack of guilt as well, and just trying to speculate as to why you do not, unless I'm misinterpreting.
  22. This seems to be where our experiences diverge in similarity. I grew up, especially in my teen years, with a definite sense of empathy/implicit ability to understand what others were feeling, and share their experience. Also I've always had a bit of a rebellious streak in some sense, but for the most part i did what I was told till about 17-19 or so. As far as submission to authority, even if I don't like it, I am pretty good at putting aside my pride or other such emotions and just doing what I am told when I am supposed to. Mostly at a job or something. I have no problem working under others
  23. On a heavy Eminem kick lately.

  24. Um...yes, technically, though i got him when I was young and my dad was the one who ended up taking care of him mostly (he's 17, got him in 1997) so I consider him more my dad's. Why do you ask? I think I know where this might be heading, but I'll wait and see.
  25. Oh Leo, I don't look at you in disgust for being empathetic and loving, or really anyone; I admire those with empathy and concern for others. It's easy to only care for yourself, at least theoretically you have significantly less things to worry about. I think you misunderstand me Leo. I'm definitely not an Alpha male, in fact from what you described I was a lot like you. I cared deeply for others at least in my teen years. All I wanted was to show other the love that I thought was coming from God. I wanted to lead others to God because I believed they would feel the acceptance and sense of af
