  1. (I'm sure this video and discussion has been posted a million times. This is also just a rant I put on facebook... with that being said, the reason for me posting here is simply because I realise how much I am on square one with understanding all this, and I know that here is where I can post this kind of rant and feel somewhat safe and understood through my mix of sense and nonsense.. and part of me is cringing when I write stuff like this.. I think that's part of the reason I re-posted this rant here... I'm kind of thinking... "Have I got this terribly wrong?"... any advise is really welcome
  2. I was sent this video by a Christian friend saying, "What do you make of this?".... and I'm going to watch it with a fresh head tomorrow.. just interested in what anyone thought?... Aside from the angle of, "If that's what works for someone, I can respect that..... if that's what gets a person through something, I'm not going to stand here and criticise or judge that... when I am in no position to judge".... aside from that (which I'm not wording quite right)... What are the real flaws with this? At the moment, I'm just in bed with my laptop and I'm not in full analysing mode on something li
  3. good idea!! I like getting those verses, not to ask, "Why do you listen to that verse and not the other?"... or "Why do you cherry pick the good scriptures and ignore these?" I like to ask this question: did the GOD of YOUR FAITH EVER command or condone these things? then when they think, "hmm dashing babies head on rocks, ripping open pregnant women, stoning people to death... all these countless abhorrent and hideous atrocities usually get catergorised into the little box in my head labeled, "That's how they rolled back then"... but when I think about it, no, I don't believe
  4. Holy shit, people on this forum are epic loads of gratitude for feedback, advice and ideas.. really is great to think about!!! I'm learning all the time and enjoying it
  5. ok this is rantaliscious... no expectations to read lol I've been researching into fallacies... What I'm aware of is that I have my position.... and a person can bring something to me that opposes my position. They can address the substance of reason that supports my position with reason they provide, or they can be intellectually dishonest by playing games with words and communicating information to create the appearance of a superior opposition to my position with the use of fallacies. I've felt this opposition to my position all my life. The judgment, the conditioning of ina
  6. I'm loving all the words... I knew the word toxic already... and never used it in these contexts... TOXIC.... it's perfect to describe the subtle, manipulative, half-truth nature of so much Christian doctrine that seeps its way into the subconscious and shackles a persons true and authentic self. Enjoyed reading everything.. want to keep reading. Yes this is something I've recently come across so much... especially as I'm discovering more fallacies in discussion where I realise, "Wait... I'm NOT the one being arrogant here! why am I being made to feel that I am!!".... And that is to e
  7. "fallacy, Fallacy, always with the fallacies!"... Well, if me pointing out fallacies is like a broken record... and you're complaining about that.... THAT'S A FOOKING FALLACY IN ITSELF!!! because it's YOU that's playing the record!!!! It's like a DJ playing a record and shouting in the mic to the crowd, "can you stop playing that shit music!"... and the crowd with a look on their face like, "what the fuck? lol it's you that's playing that music" Change the record to "Reason" and you'll see me dancing
  8. Just looking at this... Can it be argued that it is immoral to promote the doctrine of Sin?I am in some discussions recently where a card keeps getting played... the card of, "You have no right to talk about other peoples beliefs! Other people have a right to have an opinion you know! Other people have a right to be free to believe what they want!"(I have zero issue with freedom to believe what we want etc... my issue is focused on specific beliefs... and when I take issue with certain things, I am told, "You have a problem with peoples freedom to have a faith!") My focus is on obvious thi
  9. Having a discussion with a friend... We both used to go to the same Church a few years ago. Our journeys have gone in different ways, most significantly only geographically. We are also in different positions towards Christianity, faith, God and all kinds of other subjects. I wanted to paste what I wrote, just to hear if anyone has any thoughts about the general ideas I'm getting at here. If there's anything that provides a different angle to what I'm saying. I would like to express that I do not want to hear from a Christian or any religious bias on this subject. I welcome discussion at o

  11. when I was a Christian, I couldn't stand the music... "worship music"... after a particularly cringy morning of it a friend said with genuine sincerity, "Just imagine! in heaven we will worship God like this for eternity!".... That made shivers run down my back..
  12. I like that... when you say, "I couldn't connect the dots"... I really relate with that. The more I think about so many things in Christianity.. it's not even like "peeling back the layers"...... the layers just fall away to reveal something that makes no sense. 38,000 children die every day of starvation.... This is TODAY... 2000 years after heaven dispatched the "ultimate solution" to spare humanity from hell. So when "Jesus" this "savior" born in primitive Palestine 2000 years ago came and said, "IT IS DONE!"....... he didn't have in mind the billions of people who have dies since then.. in
  13. I'm with you there xD I love those little "bitch please" cartoon jokes hehe
  14. yeah I imagine that too.. and even towards the end of Christianity and these "churches" and "communities" for me... I really got an increasing understanding that all the Love, Grace, Care, Empathy.... it's nearly all a show... Projecting this kind of behavior reinforces the perception that a person is adhering well to a structure of values... Which we can see in so many things in the world from fashions to religions, to trends, to cultures... everything from a group of boys or girls in a school saying X, Y, Z is cool... to huge cultures which say X, Y, Z gives you value and worth... It's all e
