I'm just a guy. Maybe I'll write something about myself at some point, but for the moment I'm just going to comment on other people's threads before I try something myself.

  1. Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical... I doubt it's an "alien". More likely that we don't have a fossil record showing the evolution of octopi from an ancestor. Admittedly I know very little about octopi (including what their plural name is), I assume that they lack a skeleton that would allow for easy fossilization, if not at all. I feel like octopi being the result of a generic experiment by hyper-intelligent beings is a bit of a stretch...
  2. I couldn't have been the only one to create their own imaginary 1940s/1950s island nation (all my toys were of the Second World War, I made do), planned and executed precise operation plans in wars against equally imaginary 1940s/1950s aggressor nations, and created entire parallel timelines in my head for Star Wars that were (and years later I still hold are) better than the alien invasion timeline that the actual Star Wars writers created before they got called non-canon (The infamous Yuuzhan Vong was the name of this threat). Right?
  3. They ask for offering for church They pretend that this offering is for God rather than for the church They guilt you into giving by reading scriptures that are all about giving money to the church
  4. I don't have too much to say on this subject, but... For the love of Talos, 1A, please at least *spell check* your things. I have such a hard time reading what you're saying.
  5. I disagree. The Right is twisting themselves into knots trying to avoid admitting that this was an action borne of racial hatred. I would have far more respect for the Right if they just admitted that racism is still a big problem. But they won't. And that's the problem. Give me a break. No one is suggesting that we burn any of these ignorant people at a stake. We just want them to be honest for goodness sakes. I think you are far off the deep end here. Whose life has been ruined except those whose loved ones have been taken from them? The first step to solving this problem is to admit that there is a problem. This is something that too many people are unwilling to do. Rather, they cry "foul" and make themselves out to be victims. It's pathetic and it needs to stop. Bravo, I couldn't agree more.
  6. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but this is, I'm pretty sure, a line that Leia says in Episode IV. Or maybe Luke.
  7. Then you should stay out of this thread. If we want to discuss, we'll do it whether you approve or not. Fair enough. Just take the time to remember that this is an open forum. Everyone can see you say these things. Food for thought.
  8. I think, without a doubt, the headline is very misleading. But what do you expect? It's the Blaze.
  9. ... but I'm having a hard time putting it to words. Maybe you'll have better luck. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/06/19/studies-shocking-conclusion-about-what-some-atheists-really-believe-about-a-creator/ I know that we're dealing with a none-too-credible source in the Blaze, but I'd like to at least try to figure out what's wrong with this article in particular. The tl;dr, from what I saw when I read it, was that atheists pointed to "purpose in nature" (paraphrase) almost as much as theists do. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this whole thing just... wrong, but I really can't nail it down right now. I blame too many late nights. Anyone want to help me deconstruct this thing?
  10. I think everyone is the poorer for it when something like that gets tossed around. It's bad enough that we have it, I'd hate for anyone else to deal with it.
  11. I love Star Wars and Star Trek, honest. I like the latter more, but Star Wars will always have a soft spot in my heart.
  12. Anyone know if someone's ever written a "Semantics" song? Because Ironhorse might drive me into doing that.
