  1. I understand your plight. I live the same reality. I cannot "come out" as an agnostic who practices Buddhism so I live my life to the best I can, I have to hang out with Christians because my wife is a fervent believer, and if that faith works for them, so be it. Not for me anymore. I wasted 50 years of my life, in a sense, believing these stories. I must admit Christianity helped me in many ways, but it's toxic on many levels. Time for a change and hope we all survive this nasty Covid virus so we can live. If we get sick, however, our commission is to live well right here, right now. LIFE is what it's all about...short or long that it may be.
  2. I've been there...not exactly like you, but in similar situations hearing the same trite quotes that are supposed to make things all better and they don't. Hang in there and do your best during your difficult situation. I'm sorry you had to endure such suffering. May your life be better and may you find a ray of happiness and peace in the midst of great suffering. Blessings.
  3. I live your reality!!! Even a bit worse, sort of, because I am a well-known minister in the community and in two other countries. I'm 67, I' ve been around many interesting Christian blocks, and I still go to church because my wife still does. She knows I have questioned things on and off and she does not realize how deeply I feel about the mistakes in Christianity. Ultimately it is OK for me to go to church because being tied to another human being for whom church is super important, the only kind thing is to go. So what. I don't have to agree with any of it. As a matter of fact, as I sit there and listen, it just reinforces my resolve to no longer be stuck in that way of erroneous thinking. It's a rough road to haul, but it's a real one and it's OK. No skin off my teeth. I can sit somewhere for an hour or two per week if that brings comfort to the one person I have chosen to live with for the rest of my life, right? A small sacrifice of love. Trust me when I tell you, divorce is far worse!!! Don't go there. It's not worth it. Blessings and stay FREE.
  4. Start living by embracing LIFE apart from theological constructs. We do all indeed try to make sense of life, I'm still working at it at 67, but in the end, critical thinking, logic, reason, and common sense are your best bet. Get a good degree if you don't have one already, study hard, pursue your dreams, and find some way to feel connected with life in one way or another. LIFE is all we know for sure so it's worth pursuing and living well to the max. Principles like forgiveness, apologizing, kindness, compassion, discipline, perseverance, determination, and excellence will all contribute to a good and better life for yourself and for others. 5. Hang in there. You'll do fine. Realize it's totally up to you to feel, be, act, experience BETTER!!! Happiness is right around your corner. I have found that meditating, simple meditation every day watching my breath go in and out, will help you see the beauty that is within you. Then you will be able to see clearly and start living again!!! No worries...it will all get better. This type of experience is common to many people and that is also reassuring. It's nothing wrong with you. It's the "chuch" machine. It's made like that. If you don't speak the proper Christianeze you will get discredited!!! Hope this helps. Appreciate LIFE, live LIFE, choose to squeeze LIFE from every drop of it, and you'll do fine. Blessings.
