  1. Yeah...men definitely rule the home; a woman brings glory to her husband by bearing children and glory to herself by keeping a godly home. But to hear an LDS woman tell it...well, never mind. I could get into it, but I'll just get pissed off. It just amazes me how women can still be convinced to buy into such bullshit.
  2. I'm surrounded by Mormons. I have to look at their temple every time I go to Twin Falls. I worked with a group of them and got to hear constantly about missions, pregnancy, getting sealed in the temple, how many kids each one had, more missions. Drove me fucking crazy.
  3. Are you talking about dinosaurs or women?
  4. Where does it say some animals got left behind? Genesis 7:2-9 2. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee seven and seven, the male and his female; and of the beasts that are not clean two, the male and his female: 3. of the birds also of the heavens, seven and seven, male and female, to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. 4. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the ground. 5. And Noah did according unto all that Jehovah commanded him. 6. And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 7. And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8. Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creepeth upon the ground, 9. there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, as God commanded Noah. Do I need to edit my bible again!? You would not believe the argument I got into with a born again fundamentalist on this very topic; we argued the 7 vs. 2 animals, whether the flood lasted 40 days or 150 days, etc. etc. etc. Supposedly my problem is I just don't know how to understand the language and nuances of the Bible.

    Wtf

I've been there; I know what it's like to go hungry, to have to beg for food or for money to eat, and to dig in a dumpster because I was hungry. I also know what it's like to go to school filthy, wearing filthy clothes because my mother was too busy snorting whatever money we did have up her nose instead of buying shampoo and laundry soap. I've stolen to eat, but I would never, ever tell my kids to do it. I'd dig ditches and for 16 hours a day before I'd ever let either one of my kids go hungry or force them to do what I did. As for second hand stuff...I have to know where it came from. I can't just salvage someone else's leftovers.
  6. I would have grabbed that Bible and beat the dumb bitch over the head with it. By the way, Max...best of luck with your treatment, and best wishes for recovery.
  7. This is good; best of luck on your trophy collection.
  8. Reading the Bible isn't really a waste of time in terms of being able to point out the crap. This article and the author's lame attempt at making the two stories make sense? You are right. Complete waste of time. Next time, I think I will put on a disclaimer: *WARNING* CHRISTIAN APOLOGIST AHEAD. ARTICLE DOES NOT REFLECT VIEWS OF POSTER, AND CONTENTS THEREIN ARE NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Would that help?
  9. Ophelia...that's the best news I've heard all day.
  10. They have not been reconciled. It is impossible to fit Matthew's story of the trip to Egypt into Luke's account. It simply can't be done. A lot of the other details could be "harmonized" by piecing details from each account into one chronology, although the only reason to need to do such extensive harmonization is because these are two completely different stories. But the trip to Egypt CANNOT be fitted into Luke's account (any claim otherwise is being dishonest with Luke's text). Period. My post was made with the most sarcastic of intent; in no way do I believe the reconciliation was serious. I don't believe this bullshit any more than you do.
  11. Mine is, too; too many complaints from the religious about how "offensive" we are.

  12. Add me to the "Hate it!" crowd. I could just easily do without.
  13. Well, Shyone...the discrepancies between the two birth accounts have indeed been reconciled: http://www.comereason.org/bibl_cntr/con100.asp However, just don't expect it to make any sense.
