  • More About Me
I am a born again Christian. I was born in an atheist family. Attended a church as a teenager. Went back to agnostic/atheism in college. Became a Christian as a young adult. Gave up on faith a few years later and then became a born again Christian in '96. I went back to church in '99 and have been there till 2011.

I am currently 'in between churches'.

  1. That's strange though. God can't tell you this stuff? Good point. (I wish there was a reputation option for you, but I guess it's not available for any moderators.) Beyond that, for the most part it seems that Jay has demonstrated a reluctance to learn, as he continues to hold onto mythology despite facts. Im convinced 150% he's a legitimate troll. Even though i got sucked back in recently, upon reflection, its the only scenario that really makes sense. He doesnt actually believe any of the shit he says. Its a fun little game to him. Oh, I see. A troll is someone
  2. The popular version of "once saved, always saved" that says that apostates are saved is not really Calvinism. Calvinism teaches the doctrine of "the perseverance of the saints," which basically means that regenerated believers (i.e. true Christians) will stay firmly in the faith. In other words, Calvinism actually denies that there are any apostates. You are right sir. I stand corrected. ( Another reason I come here: I can learn stuff. )
  3. 1. In this and other posts Jay you tend to DEFEND the burning of Servetus at the stake over what was at its base a dispute over doctrine. Who ARE you? 2. You call yourself Reformed and yet persist in maintaining that God cannot determine the decisions of His creatures? Would you have survived in Calvin's Geneva? To Ficino, McD, Thought2much, Astreja, TrueFreedom the LunaticHeathen and anyone else thinking of responding to JayL... Who is JayL? C'mon guys? Surely you see... "The Obvious Troll is Obvious" ? As well as being an obvious troll, Jay's a self-confessed
  4. 2. You call yourself Reformed and yet persist in maintaining that God cannot determine the decisions of His creatures? Would you have survived in Calvin's Geneva? That is a very good point. Just as Anne Hutchinson was tried and banished from Puritan colony, I would have also been put on trial for my independent views in Geneva, no doubt. Well, thank God those 'good ole days' are over and we have the freedom of religion since 1789... I do have to add this for defence of Anne Hutchinson. I believe her views were more in harmony with Calvin's Reform faith than Purita

  6. I certainly have to be careful about my knee jerk answers and trite remarks. I have to be more thoughtful. I am working on it. I am working on it...
  7. Jay, this is no joke -- I'm absolutely fucking serious. I want you to face real-life consequences for your words here, consequences severe enough to make you rue the day you ever uttered the words which I quoted in the post above. I am quoting you again, so that you cannot edit out your statements. You admit that you agree with Calvin ordering or permitting the burning of Severtus. You agree with Severtus being sentenced to a horrifically painful death. You are not deserving of any position of trust or responsibility in civil society. I am not all that familiar with t
  8. Did I read that correctly, Jay? You agree with someone being burned at the stake? (Springy G, stunned into momentary silence by the inhumanity and depravity of Jay's comment, doesn't even bother going for Her rune bag or Clue-By-Four™ or any of Her other symbols of office) (After a moment of deep, quiet thought, She reaches behind her, plucks a mirror from the wall, and draws nidhing runes on it) (Springy G checks Her work, then turns the mirror to the wall, angled towards Los Angeles) I think you need to take a long, hard look at yourself, Jay. Rarely have I seen such blatan
  9. So, "He" is not omnipotent... Have you read my posts? How many times do I have to repeat this?? I guess I haven't read them all, or they just weren't very memorable. Are you a "Shack" type who believes that God wants to help us but is powerless to do so? I looked at your profile. It looks like you've gone back and forth in your belief. Have you read many of our testimonies? I hope that this is not the only thread that you follow. Lots of smart people here, but not all of us have the patience for what we tend to see in the lion's den. If you hang around long enough
  10. As I told the Bunny Goddess when you guys talk about 'intellectual integrity', I just draw a blank. LOLOLOL Anyhow, I read books by John Loftus. I am aware of Charles Templeton story, etc. One thing great about these guys is that they are just plainly nice people. And it is the same feeling I have about Dan Barker. ( But I do not get the similar positive vibe from Bart Ehrman. Bart Ehrman seems quite bitter. ). My personal opinion ( and I may be wrong. This is just my personal opinion. ) is that Mr. Dan Barker is saved and is likely to be going to Heaven. I just hope
  11. My secret guilty reason for coming here is the quality of writing. For example, this post made me laugh. It is very well written. And it is funny. I find a dose of entertainment value in it. So even though I get abused here ( occasionally), I like coming here. As Robert Schuller used to say, 'God loves you and so do I'

  13. You are a sadomasochistic motherfucker! Thank you, sir! May I have another?
  14. I became firmly convinced that the Bible is a supernatural book when I became born again. When I had my 'born again experience', one of several strange things that happened was that the Bible 'became open' to me. All of sudden, the Bible started to make sense! I simply could not believe what I had missed before - even though I made some serious attempts to read the Bible when I attended churches. ( When I was born again, I had not set foot in a church for 8 years. ) Now I was going thru the Bible with excitement and thinking, 'Wow I had no clue that these incredible ideas were in th
