  1. I've had more success with saying, "I do not believe you" instead of saying, "You are wrong".
  2. They aren't lucky...they are selected before they are born....because they are special. Yeah, special.
  3. Much sexual repression exists in many Christian denominations (as well as within many other religions). I am not surprised that some in authority within those groups seek sexual experiences within the group. Unfortunately, many use that authority to seek sexual experiences with children and by doing so seriously violate secular criminal laws. Similarly, such conduct violates tenets of their religion. It's quite puzzling, at least to me. I would hope they would realize the nature and consequences of such secular criminal and religious sinful behavior before they engage in it. But, apparently, many do not.
  4. If the God you speak of does not exist in reality, or more precisely only exists in the minds of believers, the God did and does nothing. It is the human creators of the particular God (and related religious dogma and mythology), along with believers, maintainers, indoctrinators, etc. that are responsible for your angst. I'll leave it to you to decide how much responsibility you should share/allocate to yourself.
  5. A decent, short and sweet response to most mere assertions from Christians is, "I do not believe you". This response is accurate and effective. It states your belief. It sets a boundary by indicating you will not play in the theists' sandbox. It does nothing to address their claims, which avoids debate, enabling and codependency. I could go on. If the Christian continues with more mere assertions, a followup response could be, "I am not interested in your claims". When the occasional angry Christian escalates things to something like, "You will burn in hell for not believing!", you can simply state, "I do not believe you".
  6. JESUS BEFORE THE GOSPELS: HOW THE EARLIEST CHRISTIANS REMEMBERED, CHANGED, & INVENTED THEIR STORIES OF THE SAVIOR BY BART D. EHRMAN https://www.bartdehrman.com/jesus-before-the-gospels/
  7. I have no precise data, but I suspect BO's posts on ToT accounted for at least one-half of them in quantity and were responsible to 90% of the responses. Not bad for a shallow and irrational little shit. He should put that on his resumé.
  8. ... He was more than banned. All of his tens of thousands of posts were purged, at least from my ability to view. He was never here.
  9. Social media, for the most part, contains current topics, events and issues. Also, social media is rather infected with much noise, i.e., irrelevancies, agendas, fake news, lies, etc. Wading through the nonsense is cumbersome and wastes time. On the other hand, at least for me, there is plenty of quality content to explore, more than I could ever absorb during my lifetime, from other sources, i.e., books, papers, educational videos, etc. As to the OP's original complaint (who is no longer a member), he's a whiner.
  10. Good thoughts and suggestions so far. Study "codependency" and "enabling" as one or both of those may be present in your relationships with certain family members. Being able to spot these when they occur, in real time, allows you to adjust your behavior in small ways that can mitigate their effects.
  11. Poster LuthAMF is a TULIP wannabe. This explains much, at least about him.
  12. I think BO (Burnout) was banned. I have no information about others that fit your description. Some, I suspect, simply went away on their own given the timing of their departure. Keep in mind that many folks come here for a fair amount of time, are heavily involved while here and eventually move on.
  13. @Joshpantera I admire your maturity, integrity and patience in attempting to have rational discussions with Posters Christforums and LuthAMF. It is quite obvious that neither of them are capable of behaving in similar fashion.
  14. Two narcissistic little shit theists in one thread. How quaint.
  15. No. Electromagnetic radiation from Earth solely based on a human origin (e.g., radio and television signals) takes time to reach planets around other stars, how long depends on how far away that arrival point is from Earth. In all cases, a deciphering intelligence at such arrival point will only receive dated information, relative to to any new information being generated on Earth. If that "other being's" technology was advanced enough to capture visible light at phenomenally high resolution, it might witness an extinction event on Earth, but again, it would take time for that information to reach the observer.
  16. Humans belong to a social species. Folks with common interests often find each other and form groups involving those interests. Some are loose and informal, some are strict and formal and many fall inbetween. Organized religion is an example of this phenomena.
  17. Do you have a plan on how to move on from this? If you do, how are you doing with it? If you don't have one yet, I would suggest you ask your therapist about how you might develop, implement and perform such a plan.
  18. I gave that example to demonstrate a phenomena that most of us experience. Our brains spend considerable energy filtering out numerous sensory inputs. The example shows how that filtering process can change.
  19. My wife an I purchased a newer car for her a few years ago, a Mercedes E350 (nice car BTW). After the purchase both of us began to notice many other Mercedes E350, E320, etc. on the road. Why is that not a coincidence?
  20. I upgrade this one to narcissistic little shit, with a side salad of the other three DSM IV Cluster B personality disorders. I relegate him to third person references only. Putting him on ignore is a strong personal desire. Boring narcissistic little shits, particularly those who profess special knowledge via Christianity, are, well, quite boring, plus they're little shits. However, in homage to BAA, and others, it is important for those lurkers who visit this site to see real evidence of a truly disdainful, selfish and nutter Christian.
  21. How about this: Get to the part about how you have special access to knowledge, through authority, Scripture and/or revelation. That would be funny, as well as expected. That way, you wouldn't have to waste time pretending to be something other than you really are. Bonus question: According to Genesis, how could there be water (H2O) at the beginning of creation when the stars which form all oxygen were not created until the fourth day? Use only the Bible to support your response. Or use science. Your choice. Don't claim magic. That's boring.
  22. Human literacy was quite low worldwide until some time after the invention of the printing press in the 15th Century. Concerning ancient Israel, scholarly papers estimate literacy between 3% and 20%, the difference largely attributable to how literacy is defined. The current literacy rate (defined as reading and writing at 8th grade level or above) in the USA is 86%. The USA ranks 125th among countries in literacy. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/the-highest-literacy-rates-in-the-world.html Your stated "Interests" (to the left of each of your posts) include research, fact checking. I suggest you practice your interests.
