I dunno if this is the right forum to ask, but I didn't know where else to put it. I was wondering if there is a term is for somebody who doesn't believe that the universe was created by an intelligent being, but there is some sort of universal cosmic energy life draws from/was created by? Is there a word for this?

No insult intended, but I call that kind of person "confused." Where did the concept of this "universal cosmic energy" come from? Why was it hypothesized? Why isn't the normal route through science adequate? What is creating this "energy"? Why hasn't it been detected? Where is the receptor for it? How is it used? What kind of energy is it? Hypothesizing such a god/energy/whatever brings up more questions than it answers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say either pantheism or panentheism, depending on your beliefs.

Yes, that's it! Thank you.

Funny, they say the same thing about you...or much worse.

Kurari, I believe I am of this belief too. :)

Ironically, I don't feel confused by it. It has given me more clarity to the whole God question...

I think, ultimately, I might be a pantheist too.

God could have come into existence simulatneously with the Big Bang. He may or may not be omnipresent, omnipotent and all those other omnis.

He might also be the culmination of all sentient spirits since the Big Bang, in which case we're in real trouble with all the megalomaniacs we've had here alone.

I don't believe either model, but they're both more likely than the religions invented for control of the masses here on Earth.

I don't know, but what you're describing sounds somewhat like Vitalism to me.
