Goodbye Jesus

Prayer Observations

As an ex catholic, I used to fervently prat for the holy spirit to enlighten my mind and increase my faith. I prayed after confession to stay sin free. I begged god to reveal himself to me. The results? Nothing

So after a lifetime of this energy wasting, guilt induced behavior, I said FUCK IT all.

Since, my life has improved and my energy level soared.I guess god found me unworthy.

I can't believe I lived such nonsense for half of my life. Godlessness is my first true revelation

I recall praying to Jebus endlessly when I was trying to stop watching porn and masturbating. Evidently, the Devil was stronger, since porn and hand-parties won out.

Of course, that's assuming Xian mythology is true. Since it isn't, I realize now that I was just talking to myself and giving myself crap about two non-crimes.

Giving up Jebus turned out to be much easier :)

I used to pray mainly for knowledge and wisdom (I guess I'm a Solomon kind of guy). Never, ever, anything that would be considered a test. I also used to pray for my "demon(s)" to leave me alone (as I now know is Tourette's Syndrome) but only if that was god's will (it wasn't). Of course the health and well-being of others. Never material goods or gains for myself (maybe when I was young...I don't remember) although if god wanted me to win the lottery I wouldn't have objected. The last thing I prayed for was a test and that was a sign, anything (and I meant anything no matter how insignificant), that god was there or my faith was done for. Now I'm here so we all know the answer to that one.

The irony is now that I'm out of the whole prayer business I actually have more knowledge and wisdom about YHWH and his religion because I've stopped waiting for it to magically come to me and have been working my ass off to study it. My "demon" is kind of gone because I now understand it is shitty genetics and not some "evil spirit." I don't feel (as) guilty for wanting to win the lottery or owning stuff and I don't expect to see any signs from "above." All my prayers have basically been answered now that I don't believe in this god.

Ex Catholic eh? Well have you gone through the sacrament of confirmation? Do you know what that blessed scarament is for? It is to make you strong with your faith in the religion for the holy spirit will guide you. I guess the holy spirit got drunk one night and left you astray so now you blame it all on God and his Catholic church.

When you go through a confession session and when you walk outside of your church, do you feel lighten and air just taste so Crisper as though as god has entered you and give you peace within yourself for that very moment only? You will never feel the same feeling again for now you have cross on over.

You don't have to worry about sin and all them other lies about the church for now you are free. You don't have to pray anymore and anything that reminds you of your previous church life will be a constant reminder of the first half of your miserable life. Besides, we all want to walk ahead, not fall back right?

It is a little trade off but hope it was well worth it?

Give me a fucking break. I was raised Lutheran, went through confirmation, and became agnostic DURING my classes. My mother still made me stand up in front of the church and profess belief in something I already knew probally wasn't true. I think that's why I have alot of anger for the church at times, I was forced to lie in front of everybody who knew me and watched me grow up.

But anyway, I guess the holy spirit didn't work its magic with me either. NONE of my teachers during my 2 year confirmation classes answered any of my questions, and when my ceremony was over, my main teacher was standing at the door with offering envelopes with my name embossed on them.

THAT was when I figured out what their true purpose for me was. To support them. Fuck that.

Wow. I totally forgot about that. We got some other things (a nifty cross and some other stuff) but I too got the embossed offering envelopes (I could use the regular ones once they were gone or re-order the special embossed ones if I wanted to). Unlike you, however, I was SO proud of my new status. I could partake in the "Lord's Supper" after all. Yummy. Fake dead jesus. :ugh:

you give yourself a fucking break ok?..

what makes you think the sacrament of confirmation is universally the same as in regards to one from the Catholic denomination as to your former Lutheran denomination? Which comes first? The chicken or the hen? LOL Catholic or Lutheran?

Ask the Catholic and you will find out that any copy cat acts from their denomination such as what we presented above and wearing that silly black tie around your neck if you're not a catholic priest is just silly....Ask the lutheran preacher's wife to put on a nun outfit to see how even more silly that is...

and to compare such and such? To them Catholic, lutherans are traitor to them anyway so welcome to the other side...exchristian unite.

I was content to give you the benefit of the doubt, but now I see you're just another Jebus fan, here to preach the Good Noose to our unsaved souls :jerkit:

Yes, the rituals of Cathoholicism do have the effect of making one stronger in the Cathoholic, but that's true for any religion. It's simple psychology; engaging in activities centered around something invariably has the effect of increasing your devotion to that something.

However, that doesn't make that something true, and doesn't mean that we're worthless slugs who need to crawl like worms to Jebus to beg a scrap of forgiveness from his table :Wendywhatever:

I thought better of you, but you're just another weirdo with weird ideas. We've been getting a lot of your type lately, but waves of idiocy come and go. Eventually, you'll wash out with the tide, just like the rest of them.

Dear Shamman,

ExChristian.net is for the purpose of encouraging those who have left Christianity. It is not for you to fucking critize them and try to convert them to your brand of cult. The Lion's Den is a place where little evangelists like you can go get your jollies. This is not the place for your silly views. Respect it, or fuck off.

BTW, you're views are nuts.

yes, it is a fact that we all will be "wash out with the tide" some day and some will go sooner than others but that does not mean they will go without leaving an impact on someone's lives.

Your assumption is quite challenging but let me ask you this....Have you seen or heard of any Christian or jesus freak who dares to say what I'm about to say?

Fuck You Jesus

so there's my credibility.

Then why did you clearly defend Cathoholism in the post I quoted?

You're one confusing git.

ALL sacraments ARE the same!! We even have a word for the whole lot...BULLSHIT!

Oh, and BTW, thousands of other religions came centuries before the catholicKs, so what is your point? Comming of age rituals are nothing new. Before catholicK confirmation there was the Jewish Bar and Bat mitzvas, before that, other rituals. By your logic the catholicK church is also null and void because it did not come first.

I've got shaman on mental ignore. I know unintelligible babble when I see it.

So, about the prayer thing. Those were the same things I prayed for. Understanding. Wisdom. And I prayed for God to "use me for your glory". hehe. So much for that one being answered.

Why don't people pray for something that couldn't happen without God. Like - well - how about getting the church together to pray over a cadaver. Not pray that god would accept the dead guy into his kingdom - but - PRAY THAT THE GUY COMES BACK TO LIFE.

Why not? It would be crazy. That's why.

But, when you believe it in a book - why that's just fine. Commonly accepted. Expected, in fact.

Hi mwc!

One of your prayers was "answered." You are alive with wisdom and intellect. I'm still going to get around to reading ACTS with a first-timer and I'll get back to you.
