Right now I am in the middle of my deconversion. It all started when I began a critical study of Matthew 24 and the word "generation."

After hours of study, I began to realize that Jesus meant to return in the first century. There is NO other way to look at it. I started bringing this up with my preacher brother and missionary sister and my mother(the holiest of holies in the family). I even had the audacity to say that I didn't think the great flood happened or that Balaam ever got in an argument with his ass. Maybe, just maybe a parrot. But an ASS? No way.

All HELL broke loose. How dare I question such things. Ex-Christians have pointed out to me that most believers hardly ever even read the Bible. They use misdirection and rely on beliefs that they were taught from childhood.

I am currently doing a critical study of the entire Bible. If this turns me into a heathen,so be it. I never felt comfortable as a Christian, and doubts about my beliefs continually bugged me to the point of insanity. I do enjoy the fact that I don't have to suspend common sense and logic anymore. I will no more go on blind dumbass faith to believe something.

Wish me luck.

I feel I should aslo add, that the time Jesus spent being dead, doesn't add up to 3 'days and nights'. Even though that is what should have happened from his own mouth.

Let's just assume passover was on a Friday. Assuming he was Crucified at the earliest time mentioned. [Around 9 a.m. or so] He would have been dead about two days when they went to visit his tomb, [sunday morning.] Not three days and nights. In the early church, the Sabbath was 'celebrated' on Saturday.

Good post, Darth. The Babble is the single best anti-Xian resource; all you need is a keen eye for detail and any copy of that real-world Necronomicon and you can blow any sect of Xianity clear out of the water. Even a single cursory reading of the plain text of the Babble will begin to highlight the genuine horrors Xianity is based on.

Good luck, Roger W!

  • 1 month later...

I wonder how you have been doing since April, Roger. Do you visit here anymore? I was one of the people who read my bible and prayed every day. I was not a student of the bible in that I never saw the incongruities mentioned above. However, my own life showed me that neither the bible nor god were improving my lot in life. It took me many years of therapy and this site to pull my fearful ass out of heaven and hell. I may not know anything beyond this life, that is ok. I didn't know anything then, either, and now I can accept that I just don't know. Good luck. MaryJane
