Goodbye Jesus

Why Not Just Admit You Don't Know?

I've been thinking about my religious past as of late. It's a little depressing, but somehow intellectually stimulating.

Anyway, when I was about 11, I figured something out about Christians.

"The lord works in mysterious ways."

"You should have faith."

"Trust in the lord."

"No one can know God's will."

There are a few other similar statements, but they pretty much boil down to the same thing.

"I don't know."

What is it about this phrase that Christians are so frightened by? They have to create ways to tip toe around saying something like that about faith and god.

Asking questions about god and his mysteries usually gets such a responce from any 'true believer'.

Repeeated questioning will get you an ourtright, 'You shouldn't question God."

Why not?

Isn't this just another way of not admiting that you don't know? Is it too embarassing?

I mean, if we don't know, shouldn't we ask? You know, try to find out?

From my experience, the answer is no.

In the end, it boils down to, '

-I don't know.

-Everything you need is in this book, if it's not, you don't need it.

-Asking for more is wrong, shut up and do what we tell you, or you'll be punished. [in this life, or after it.]

-Stop asking questions and conform.

-Jesus loves you, but he hates questions, things that make sense, and gay people.

-Jesus plants false evidence on Earth, so you'll think he's not real.

This is the 'Christian' philosophy put into bullet points.

Thinking on it now, I've realized the truth.

If god is real...he doesn't want us to believe in him. It's the only explination, and all of you Christians are pissing him off and ruining it for him.

Ssssshhhhhh! Stop it! Can't you tell Jesus is hiding?

Just admit you don't know, then try and find out. Stop punishing children for using their brains just because you're too ignorant to explain why the Bible says the world is flat.

Also, you have no sense of humor. I can tell, because if you're Christian, I've just made you angry. ^_^

This really made me laugh.

Can I quote it on the thing that comes up everytime you post (I forget what it's called)?

Feel free. I'm assuming you mean the signature. I've got no problem with anyone quoting anything I post here. It just might make someone have a thought. Either that, or it'll upset them. I'm happy either way.

You've got it all wrong, Jesus doens't hate gay PEOPLE... he just hates the fact that they're GAY. Cause they CHOSE to be gay, doncha know?

Course, if they were just born that way then I guess he does hate them.

Course, he doesn't exist and never did.

I'm hungry.

Course, he doesn't exist and never did.

Damn skippy :)

Xians cannot admit they just "don't know." They have to inject "God's Will" or "faith" into the issue, to make it seem like it's all part of some big divine plan. That makes them feel safe - whereas being forced to admit that they truly do not know is unsettling. Humans like to have answers, and humans in deranged dogmatic cults take that need to extremes.

Oh, how much better the world would be if Jebus were never conceived of :vent:

It takes a bit of honesty to say, "I don't know."

One lesson that Christianity doesn't teach, is one about honesty.

"This is the 'Christian' philosophy put into bullet points." No... it is the anti-christian philosophy which is basically "the church" nowdays.

"The lord works in mysterious ways." Yeah, but He only performs wonders... not crap.

"You should have faith." If your image of God is not perfect... your faith will suck big time.

"Trust in the lord." Again... if you trust in a shitty image of God, you are trusting shit.

"No one can know God's will." God only has one will... "Life" ... nothing else. He is everlasting life.

"You shouldn't question God." You should question everything about God.

"Everything you need is in this book, if it's not, you don't need it." Everything you need is inside of you already.

"Asking for more is wrong, shut up and do what we tell you, or you'll be punished. [in this life, or after it.]" Life is here. Always ask for more. God does not punish anyone. He already took the punishment.

"Stop asking questions and conform." Ask and ask away... be set free from assimilation. Grace should be ever expanding in knowledge.

"Jesus loves you, but he hates questions, things that make sense, and gay people." Jesus does not see sin in anyone and you can't truly know Him without questions.

"Jesus plants false evidence on Earth, so you'll think he's not real." Jesus doesn't do anything. He's already finished. Enter into grace to know Him.

"Stop punishing children for using their brains just because you're too ignorant to explain why the Bible says the world is flat." The beast of death lives in shame.

"Also, you have no sense of humor. I can tell, because if you're Christian, I've just made you angry. ^_^" I'm not in the least offended... but then again, I am free in the finished work of Christ. Nothing can hurt Him again.

"This is the 'Christian' philosophy put into bullet points." No... it is the anti-christian philosophy which is basically "the church" nowdays.

The church has been this way for thousands of years. It's not a 'new' development.

"The lord works in mysterious ways." Yeah, but He only performs wonders... not crap.

What wonders? There's no evidence to support any 'mirical or wonder'. Evolution, the big bang, plate tectonics, and genetics are all vastly better explinations.

God doesn't explain anything, instead, he needs a huge amount of explaining, and illogical rationalization.

"You should have faith." If your image of God is not perfect... your faith will suck big time.

Faith sucks either way. Delusions are unhealthy, both to the subject, and those around them.

My image of God is an imaginary horrible torturous monster. Just like in the bible. If you think there is an invisible man who lives in the sky, you have a neurological disorder.

"Trust in the lord." Again... if you trust in a shitty image of God, you are trusting shit.

You're also causing more harm than good by spreading the shit around.

"No one can know God's will." God only has one will... "Life" ... nothing else. He is everlasting life.

I'm sure god came down out of the sky and explained this to you in detail. Maybe if you wear a tinfoil hat, the voices will stop. O_o

"You shouldn't question God." You should question everything about God.

Agreed, and if you do, you'll find it doesn't add up.

"Everything you need is in this book, if it's not, you don't need it." Everything you need is inside of you already.

Agreed. I don't need Jesus, or any other imaginary friend to be a good person. Statistics show that Atheist are more moral than Christians.

75% of the US population is Christian.

10% of the US population is Atheist.

75% of the prison population is Christian.

0.2% of the prison population is Atheist.

"Asking for more is wrong, shut up and do what we tell you, or you'll be punished. [in this life, or after it.]" Life is here. Always ask for more. God does not punish anyone. He already took the punishment.

You're right. Hell isn't punishment. Punishment is something you give someone so they will 'learn their lesson'. What lesson are you supposedly going to learn for Eternity? It's just sadism at that point.

"Stop asking questions and conform." Ask and ask away... be set free from assimilation. Grace should be ever expanding in knowledge.

1 grace, good will, goodwill

a disposition to kindness and compassion; benign good will; "the victor's grace in treating the vanquished"

2 grace, grace of God, free grace

(Christian theology) the free and unmerited favor or beneficence of God; "God's grace is manifested in the salvation of sinners"; "there but for the grace of God go I"

3 seemliness, grace

a sense of propriety and consideration for others

4 grace, gracility

elegance and beauty of movement or expression

5 grace, blessing, thanksgiving

a short prayer of thanks before a meal

6 Grace

(Greek mythology) one of three sisters who were the givers of beauty and charm; a favorite subject for sculptors

7 grace, saving grace, state of grace

(Bhristian theology) a state of sanctification by God; the state of one who under such divine influence; "the conception of grace developed alongside the conception of sin"; "it was debated whether saving grace could be obtained outside the membership of

state

1 decorate, adorn, grace, ornament, embellish, beautify

make more attractive by adding ornament, colour, etc.; "Decorate the room for the party"; "beautify yourself for the special day"

2 deck, adorn, decorate, grace, embellish, beautify

be beautiful to look at; "Flowers adorned the tables everywhere"

In other words, Grace, has nothing to do with knowledge. That statement makes no sense. Grace and Knowledge are seperate issues.

"Jesus loves you, but he hates questions, things that make sense, and gay people." Jesus does not see sin in anyone and you can't truly know Him without questions.

I feel I should aslo add, that the time Jesus spent being dead, doesn't add up to 3 'days and nights'. Even though that is what should have happened from his own mouth.

Let's just assume passover was on a Friday. Assuming he was Crucified at the earliest time mentioned. [Around 9 a.m. or so] He would have been dead about two days when they went to visit his tomb, [sunday morning.] Not three days and nights. In the early church, the Sabbath was 'celebrated' on Saturday.

"Jesus plants false evidence on Earth, so you'll think he's not real." Jesus doesn't do anything. He's already finished. Enter into grace to know Him.

So why bother with worshiping him? He was kind of a jerk. All he did was go around telling people they were evil and dirty, and that they should do what he said or he'd throw them into a pit of fire someday.

Think about it like this: Some one at work comes in every day and says "I'm the greatest fucker here, and all you sniviling shits would die without me! Now do what I say or I'll dunk your head in a deep fat frier!" to everyone he meets.

Sound like a likable guy?

"Ssssshhhhhh! Stop it! Can't you tell Jesus is hiding?" He's only invisible to those who have corrupted His image with hell and death and those who believe them.

So, you've seen Jesus? O_o I think you need to get back on your meds if you have.

"Just admit you don't know, then try and find out." I've already found out and I do know and did by questioning Him... not men.

Then your logic circuits are broken. Asking intelligent questions won't get you answers about god. Only asking stupid ones such as 'how much does Jesus love me?' will get you the answers you seek. I should also add, that if you're really hearing voices, you really should seek psycological help. No joke here. Really.

"Stop punishing children for using their brains just because you're too ignorant to explain why the Bible says the world is flat." The beast of death lives in shame.

??? What the hell does that mean? Could it be...SATAN? Your argument is irrational, and sounds crazy. It makes no real sense and sounds archaic for no real reason.

"Also, you have no sense of humor. I can tell, because if you're Christian, I've just made you angry. ^_^" I'm not in the least offended... but then again, I am free in the finished work of Christ. Nothing can hurt Him again.

Right. You can't hurt something that isn't there. I was a Christian for years, there's nothing you've said I haven't heard before, and it still makes no sense. Most of your answers were nonsensical and vague. You need rational tangible evidence here. We've all heard your thin vague arguments before, and they just don't hold water.

If you try these thin, weak attempts at persuasion here, you're just going to hit a wall. We've got real science on our side, with actual evidence that points to resonable and rational conclusions. The answers you gave sound flimsy and crazy, with no real definition or meaning behind your little 'catch phrases'.

Also, if you really believe in Jesus, you should change your '1 god' on your beliefs into '3 gods', or '3 in 1'. Holy 'trinity' remember?

You should get a new mascot, one that looks less tortured on display, and also less Italian. Jesus was a Jew.

If you have an image of God at all, your God is an idol. Just sayin'...

And since Jebus said that not one letter of the law will pass away, and that he came to fulfill (not do away with) said law, any pictures of the Lord Enslaver are strictly verboten.

Try telling that to a Xian :HaHa:

I agree, if one believes Jesus is God. They don't like that and deny that is what they are doing because God told them what He looked like.

This is what really throws me; they hate idols made of material but the image that was given to the material had to have its start in someone's mind first.

"You should have faith." If your image of God is not perfect... your faith will suck big time.

"Trust in the lord." Again... if you trust in a shitty image of God, you are trusting shit.

If you have an image of God at all, your God is an idol. Just sayin'...

Since my God is in me... does that count when I look in the mirror? ;)

By the way Florida, welcome to the site.

I'm really interested in poking around to see what your beliefs are. :poke::HaHa:

I also believe that whatever energy there is that sustains life is also in me and everything else. I don't see Jesus as the son of God (any more so than anything else). I see him as a person that was trying to get people connected with the Source. So asking Jesus for anything is not a reasonable thing to do, IMO. If God is in us, why look outside of us for help? (Note my signature :D )

I look forward to more insight from you. :)

-Jesus plants false evidence on Earth, so you'll think he's not real.

A trixy one indeed.

I couldn't help it. The first thing I thought of when I read about Jesus planting fake evidence on Earth to test our faith was Gollum saying, "Trixy hobbitses!"

75% of the US population is Christian.

10% of the US population is Atheist.

75% of the prison population is Christian.

0.2% of the prison population is Atheist.

I was told the high number of Christians in jail was due to the great 'out reach' projects...With the 90% recidivist rate that I pointed out, they went mysteriously quiet, and never mentioned it again.

Because if they admit they don't know, that's doubt and it means they'll get sent to hell. At least, for the fundies.

So THAT'S why they attack me whenever I ask for the evidence behind those answers???

What an insight!

I could never figure it out. THANKS!

They'd just make me out to be this stupid moron. Well, excuse me, but what better anti-dote for ignorance than asking questions about stuff I don't know??? They professed to know all this stuff. So why can't they just share it with me? It's not like I ever pretended to be smart or anything...

You must have me confused with someone who tortured you. Also, I have no idea about what the heck you are ranting about and am thinking that you have way to much time on your hands. Please get a job.

Nice to meet you too. Oh... and I like being poked.

I will tell you nothing that "the church of the assimilated christians of hell and death" would tell you.

Ah.....

"Get a job (or another job....an assumption of unemployment in members would be presumptuous and ignorant of course) you have too much time on your hands."

Do you even realize what you are saying?

"You think too much"

"If you were doing more, you wouldn't have time to question god"

"I don't think you should question god."

"God is in me."

"When you question god, you are questioning me."

"You shouldn't question me (I'm god)."

"If you had more to do, you wouldn't have time or opportunity to ask questions or make comments that bother me, because if I had more to do, I wouldn't have time to think, so you cannot be any different."

Nice.

And this post is coming from a member who makes over 47,000 a year...not including the 22% of gross going directly into a 401K. Yet I seem to find time to think.

The get a job thing was a joke. (Notice wink) I was trying to get you to lighten up. From what I could make of your post, it was frighteningly up-tight. Thinking is a good thing if it is creative.
