Meaning In Life

If I had the level of willpower it would take for me to lose weight, I'd probably still be a Christian.

Not eating when I get the munchies takes as much if not more willpower than not looking at porn and jacking off when I get horny.

And if I had had the willpower to not jack off, I never would have been plagued with the guilt that made me dissatisfied in my Christian life and open to considering that it wasn't true.

You could alway try jacking off more... I'm sure that burns off some calories.

Well, you could try dancing and jacking off at the same time... like "jackin' off to the oldies". Get creative. Buy a trampoline. ;)

For many years, Christianity gave me a sense of meaning... it offered that pie-in-the-sky hope for something better when it's all over if i could put up with the shit now.

The thing is, when the negatives in your life outweigh the positives, what reason is there to go on, without the carrot/stick of good afterlife/bad afterlife?

Meaning in life being gone is a symptom of depression, not just not having religion in your life. We make our own meaning. I would say if you really think your negatives outweigh the positives, get counseling or something. Also, I know it's hard because depression saps your energy, but do something you like. Doesn't matter what. Get outside and get some sunshine. Do some volunteer work. If you are having suicidal thoughts, get professional help.

For me the negatives always outweigh the positives. Unforunately I am one of those "glass half empty" people so I always view the world through a negative filter. (even when I was a Christian I was like this....I think it's just the way my brain is wired). The reason I go on is because I prefer not to die at this time.
