In this <a href="http://www.current.tv/">Current TV</a> video, <a href="http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/bios/j_lisle.asp">Dr. Jason Lisle</a> also says that "<em>In an evolutionary world view, why should you have things like absolute morality?, Why would it be wrong to kill someone?</em>"

My housemate is about ten feet away and I have no urge to kill him. Truth is, I think it's common courtesy not to murder people and I thought that up all by myself.<a name="cont"></a>

 

It's interesting to note that some Muslims appear to have the same thoughts about Atheism. In <a href="http://del.icio.us/throwawayyourtv07/richard.dawkins">Richard Dawkins</a> epic documentary "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Root_of_All_Evil%3F">Root of all Evil?</a>", Dawkins visits a American Muslim Yousef al-Khattab in Jerusalem. Without Morals Yousef argues that people would be "fornicating in the streets."

I don't see anything wrong with people fornicating in the street or women bouncing around topless on TV because these things don't harm anyone.

 

I base my morality on the precept of not needlessly causing harm to my fellow human beings. Christians and moslems get their morality from the Bible - it is fixed and unchangeable and it is obedience rather than compassion that is required. My morality is based on compassion, not obedience and on learning from my mistakes rather than following rigid rules.

 

Evolution would not favour morality? This is nonsense. It is not all blood and violence in the animal kingdom. There are many examples in nature of different species co-operating with each other because they each get something out of the arrangement. And when creatures live in social groups (like humans do) it is never beneficial for the species' survival for creatures to wantonly kill other members of their social group. Fights for dominance or over a mate rarely end in death. So even evolution says 'do not murder'.

 

As for sexual morality - i have this message for Christians and Moslems: Get over it! Sex is natural and sex is good!

Personally I wouldn't, and I DO think sex is good and natural. I just do not believe in forcing my sexuality on others and I think that would. I also think there would be some health issues.

Most Christians that I know or whose writings I've read online, base their judgment regarding atheists because of places like China(where missionaries tell about the slaughter of baby girls) and North Korea. Never mind peaceful countries like Holland, Canada, Sweden, etc...nope, they see evil communism and make their judgments on atheists almost entirely on that.

besides all of the other arguments, "absolute" morality is still based on one being's opinion. this presents two problems: a) no one actually has a single bit of evidence that any particular god exists, therefore, we cannot find reason to abide by one god's rules rather than another or none at all. even if there is a god, i don't understand the logic in the "might is right" philosophy.

 

either way, all of the law abiding, wonderful atheists shoot this lame argument to shit.

I can't think of any reason why Muslims would be any more correct about requiring a deity and/or religion for morality than Christians are.

 

I suspect that folks who make the claim that morality would collapse if we didn't have religion are really saying that their morality would collapse if they personally didn't have religion. That guy who thinks people would be fucking in the streets? I'd wager half a denarius he's speaking his own desires right there.

 

Religion can provide a moral framework for individuals who are incapable of justifying decent behavior on their own, I suppose. But the rest of us demonstrate that religion isn't a requirement for morality. Especially when it comes to streetfucking.

what seems to escape all of these idiots is that they are attacking atheists, when technically, all other religions but their own are in the same boat as atheists. they say that if humans aren't following a god that gives morals, then we are just making them up. it stands to reason that if they think all of those other religions are false, then these other religious people are making up their morals just as atheists are, but they're just pretending they come from a god. therefore, everyone who is not in their own religion should be wreaking havoc.

 

this argument gets a double flush because it's just so damn shitty.
