Grandpa Harley
The etymology of bloody is that it is thought to be a corruption of 'By our lady!' thus invoking the Virgin. If said fast enough with a Kentish accent, one can hear it ('Modern' English is an evolved version of Kentish dialect, due to Chaucer. It's a lot like Italian is actually an evolved version of the Florentine of Dante)
Grandpa Harley
I've not used "'Sblood!" in a long time... not that it's been a common expletive in my lifetime, but more the result of my curious 'erudition'
