Guest BackSlyder Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 This just makes me feel that much better about my lack of belief. You have to see this. Richard Dawkins Stumped
quicksand Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I think the Muslim guy answered his own question with "God is incomprehensible and is not understandable." (Yet the idiot still makes positive claims. Geesh.)
Kirangel Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I liked the guys response, "I'm going to move on, because I think Richards eyes rolled back and then rolled back around again. I'm just worried for the safety of your organs Richard" LOL, I wonder what Dawkins response would have been...
Antlerman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 The obvious response, had the guy quite blathering, would have been in response to his statement that "if you have something that exists, you must have a creator", is a logic fallacy. It leads a conclusion that is not supportable like the famous "Watchmaker's argument". The natural world is not at all the same thing as something created by a willful mind. Are the turns and bends a river takes in its course to the sea determined by conscious will?? We're talking biological organisms and products of the forces of nature in a natural world. There need not be a creator for man, any more than the regular patterns on the sand from blowing wind are produced by one. As far as the question what controls these things? I would have answered, "Did they teach you basic physics in school? What's our world come to? Oh wait, I think I can see already. People trading in knowledge for ignorance."
HuaiDan Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Oh come on I don't think he was stumped so much as being polite and letting the guy finish, or feeling some frustration over the fact that he's dealt with this kind of argument before, probably just dealt with the notion in detail in whatever lecture he was giving and then this nutter comes on like he's completely deaf. Even the host caught on to that. If you're going to come into the guys lecture and be presented the opportunity to debate him, then you should at least show the good manners of knowing that person's material. To come in there and just start shouting pendantic slogans is just rude.
Brother Jeff Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I think the Muslim guy answered his own question with "God is incomprehensible and is not understandable." (Yet the idiot still makes positive claims. Geesh.) It's impossible to understand or describe the Magical Being because His Ways are much more magical than our ways. But to say that the Magical Being doesn't exist is just foolishness because you can see the evidence of His Magic everywhere! Glory! What you can understand is the fact that Kryasst Croaked in the Spook on the big giant stick and Magically Undeadened Himself for you, so REPENT and be SLAVED! Hall-lay-LOOH-Yah!!
