Fweethawt
I found this little tidbit in a local magazine outside at work today. Am I the only one who reads this with the eyes of a NORMAL person? The Christian Home The husband in a Christian home Will truly serve the Lord. He'll strive to always do the things That peace and joy afford. He's called to lead in holy things As well as temporal needs; He finds God's help so very real As on God's word he feeds. He tries to understand his wife, And notice when she's tired. He'll love her more than anyone- Of course she'll be admired He wants his wife to help him make Decisions for their good, For he may not see everything That they together would. He'll teach his children to obey, And discipline he'll use, So when they're tempted to do wrong The right they'll want to choose. The Lord has placed the Christian wife In an important sphere; Though motherhood has lots of work, Rich blessings still appear. She tries to live a thankful life- Not nag nor fuss nor fret. And even if they're not so rich. At least their needs are met. She will delight in doing things To brighten someone's day. And if she can't get out to help, At least she still can pray. She knows it takes the help of God And husband's aid and cheer, To raise the children in the way Of godly love and fear. So husband, wife, each fill your place And God your home will bless, Your home can show the love of God- His joy and happiness. B.A.

Antlerman
Oh crap, this is gross. It takes me back to that bullshit we used to swallow back when. Hey, let's all live like we did in the 1800's. Yeah, that's right little ladies, stay at home and support your man. I thought Jesus elevated the status of women. Apparently not. And to think people still actually think like this! Piprus
Ah, yes...I'm hearing the theme song from "Leave It To Beaver" playing in the background...

Luke Wolf
It frightens me to know that only a few short years ago, I would have been happy to take castrated Christian husband role. And could have had several Christian girls from the church to choose from, all equally as retarded I was, for the stay at home, "I = dirt" Christian wife role. I've come up with better living philosophies than that after consuming a 12 pack of beer, 12 ounce bottle of robotussin, and a couple joints within a two hour time frame. Rhia
How disgusting! Even when I was a Christian, this was gross to me! This, paired with the Christian spanking, just makes the whole load of shit less appealing to ever even consider as a rational decision.
מה טבו
I can understand the appeal of this lifestyle for the husband. As Judy Syfers put it, "Who wouldn't want a wife?" But for a woman? What's the appeal? Not having to be responsible for your own decisions?
L.B.
Sounds like a cross between a battered wife and Yoda. "For he may not see everything That they together would." Subservient to me, you will be. Honor and obey me, you will. Shit from your lowly, barefoot, pregnant, headscarf-wearing, pollyanna cunt self I WILL NOT TAKE! I'm the fucking MAN! The LEADER! GOD says so, bitch! Oh, wait... was that a little too abusive-sounding? Naah. Xtianity IS abusive. "poetry" like that makes for Warren Jeffs/Jonestown/holy prophet/cult-leader shit. SWIM
The Christian Home The husband in a Christian home Will truly serve the Lord. He'll strive to always do the things That peace and joy afford. The occasional hooker, for when he's bored... He's called to lead in holy things As well as temporal needs; He finds God's help so very real As on God's word he feeds. And the wife better listen to him to, or else we will all see what color she bleeds. He tries to understand his wife, And notice when she's tired. He'll love her more than anyone- Of course she'll be admired She will bring him coffee, and a blowjob or two, Spit it all out when she is through. He wants his wife to help him make Decisions for their good, For he may not see everything That they together would. And when her opinion's don't match his own, He will quietly ignore her, and heave a sigh and a moan. He'll teach his children to obey, And discipline he'll use, So when they're tempted to do wrong The right they'll want to choose. Because dear friends, a fist can leave a nasty bruise. The Lord has placed the Christian wife In an important sphere; Though motherhood has lots of work, Rich blessings still appear. Don't let her cut her hair though, demons wait near. She tries to live a thankful life- Not nag nor fuss nor fret. And even if they're not so rich. At least their needs are met. So on she toils for her rightous god, silent in church, else she feel the rod. She will delight in doing things To brighten someone's day. And if she can't get out to help, At least she still can pray. And pray she does, to one day die, because this life is hard, living a lie. She knows it takes the help of God And husband's aid and cheer, To raise the children in the way Of godly love and fear. And if that don't work, she will bring him another beer. So husband, wife, each fill your place And God your home will bless, Your home can show the love of God- His joy and happiness. And if you fail along the way, god will shove you in hell, right along with all who are gay! B.A. LOL sorry to F-up the little poem, I just couldn't resist. Deva
Quite disgusting. Nasty 1950's view that women should be married, mothers, and must obey their husband. Otherwise, they might as well not exist.
Robbobrob
The line that drives me bananas is "Love and fear". One cannot love what one fears. One should not fear those they love. Stupid Christians. Even basic human concepts escape them.

pitchu
Y'know, Fwee, I must somewhat be getting over the anger and frustration of knowing my daughter is locked in the hell which this mess of a poem depicts, because my strongest response concerns the execrable torturing of syntax for the sake of rhyme. Casey
A Country and Western version of the same: Put Another Log On The Fire (sheldon silverstein) Put another log on the fire, Cook me up some bacon and some beans, Go out to the car and change the tire, Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans. Baby, fill my pipe and then go fetch my slippers, Boil me up another pot of tea. Put another log on the fire, girl, Come and tell me why you’re leaving me. Don’t I let you wash the car on sunday ? Don’t I warn you when you’re getting fat ? Hey, fatso! Ain’t I gonna take you fishing some day ? Well, a man can’t love a woman more than that. Ain’t I always nice to your kid sister, Don’t I take her driving every night ? So sit here at my feet because I like you when you’re sweet And you know that it ain’t feminine to fight. Put another log on the fire, Cook me up some bacon and some beans, Go out to the car and change the tire, Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans. Fill my pipe and then go fetch my slippers, Boil me up another pot of tea. Put another log on the fire, woman, Come and tell me why you’re leaving me. Yeah, come and tell me why you’re leaving me. Chauvinistic, but without the gibble-gabble bibble-babble. Casey
Amethyst
Even when I was religious, I couldn't stand the whole "all women must stay at home and make babies" kind of thing. That's just stupid in this day and age.
Islington
Urgh! First reading I thought: Its not that bad... second reading I tought: Wait! Stop! have to think it trough... The "woman stay home" thing is quiet obvious but other thinks did not pop up right in front of my eyes. What makes me vomit is the implement on diciplining children for doing right in a way I can only read: If they do wrong he will hit them until they will prefer to do what he wants them to do to being further hit.
