Guest interested christian
Hi to whoever reads this. i find this one of the most interesting sites i`ve come across.what i`d like to say to anyone who`s an ex-christian because of the hell thing. youy dont have to be an ex-christian to not believe in hell as traditionally a place that the wicked goes for eternal punissment. my christian faith strenghtened when i stopped believing in hell. i now understand God`s love even more. NearlyInsane
Why stop at not believing in hell? Why not throw out the rest of it too? It's all a bunch of worthless nonsense, afterall... So while you're dipping your toe in the pool of non-belief waters, why not jump in & have a swim?
fallenleaf
Do you really think our only problem is hell? Do you really think that, even if that was our only problem, we could just suddenly believe that hell wasn't real? There are so many things besides hell... but even if it was just hell, just ignoring things we don't like isn't going to help.

He`s just presented and represented wrongly.
Deva
I am sure if you continue to read the posts on this site, you will see that "the hell thing" is only the tip of a very large iceberg. Anyway, since you describe yourself as a Christian, we would be most interested in hearing you elaborate on (a) why you don't believe in hell - how do you reconcile it ? Do you just wholesale throw out sections of the scripture you don't like? and ( tell us more of what you think of God's love. Just interested. I'm sorry how you do smooth over contradictions in your dogma? Hell=Separation from God due to sin. The only way to avoid this fate is to invite the holy spook into your heart to get your get out of hell free card with out passing GO. It is what we needed saving from in the first place isn't it? Just where pray-tell do you believe non-believers, heretics and infidels go after death?

Deval, lets just say i couldnt reconcile a loving God with eternal punishment. i was shown and with careful studying of the Bible that man`s interpretations were just to suit himself and what he feels God should do to the sinner. i too have left the organised Church because i dont feel its where i should be. its a selfish `set up`and i feel if most of the people in church were honest with themselves they`d reject it too. i`m sorry if i made u dont think that i felt the only reason you left was because of the hell belief by the church. no, i know the church denominations, i`ve been in it for 30yrs baptised and all and know how self serving it is. And we agree. We don't think a loving God can be reconciled with eternal punishment either. We also agree with you that honest people would reject the organized church. No need for an apology to me, and I'm glad you can see how selfish and self serving the church is. Now knowing it for what it is, and having left it, why are you still calling yourself Christian? You say : "with careful studying of the Bible that man`s interpretations were just to suit himself and what he feels God should do to the sinner." I am sorry, but I don't really understand what you mean. Man is not saying what he feels God should do to the sinner, this is just what the scripture says. God says he is going to do that to the sinner. Or am I missing something?

Sometimes It only takes one thread to unravel the entire garment. Perhaps you have a view of God being this wonderfully patient kind, kindred soul who's loving, gentle, understanding, forgiving and so forth. That completely contradicts what the bible says. He's a God who used Human sacrifice to clean souls, he claims his own child no less. He's a god who murdered thousands of Egyptians thru no control but his own. He hardened pharos heart, then punished the mere mortal and his people for not being able to overcome gods force. He advocates the death of anyone not a follower of him He advocates Hate to all family members even to yourself or else you don't love him enough and are not a true follower. (Luke 14) He advocates the murder of populations simply over different ideologies and beliefs. He drowned every being on the planet innocents irrelevant because he was having a bad day and was 'displeased'. He demands the Murders of tribes, Peoples, Races at his whim. He rewards dishonesty He rewards betrayal He makes commandments then breaks them himself. I could go on and on but I digress.... It's all in the bible... So I disagree with your view. The god of the bible is unjust enough to create hell.

Japedo
Hazarding a guess 'Holy Spook'... It's not an attack against her, it's attack against the outrageous story people cherry pick from. What is the difference between ghost and spook anyways? I'll just note that This is posted in the Ex-Christian life section of Ex-C. Perhaps it should be put in the lions den, or spirituality if we have to use kid gloves. I apologize if me using "holy spook" offended the new poster and was viewed as a form of attack. It is a normal phrase that it used on Ex-C so she souldn't take it personally. Sorry.....
